Chapter Eleven: Confessions

I stepped out of the office into the cold November wind. I pulled my trench coat closer around me. The thin sweatshirt I wore below did no help in keeping me warm.

That's what I get for not listening to mama when she repeatedly said me to wear something thicker.

I got into my car and was about to drive home when I quickly pulled out my phone and switched it back on to check if I had any voicemails.

I had a voicemail from Kaya.

"Arza! Oh my god! I have to talk to you. Like asap! Face to face." I heard kayas voice speak.

Its been two weeks since our meet up at Zahra aapis place.

I called Kaya.

"assalamu alaikum! I'll be at your place in a bit, let me grab my lunch before that. you're at home yeah?" I spoke to kaya once she picked up.

"Yes! Perfect. and its 4pm Arza, how can you be so irresponsible? is this the time to have lunch?!" kaya yelled

"Wow. Okay. Calm down." I replied to her laughing.

"Okayyyy. Ahhhhhh you hear that!? its screams of joy. I'm so happy Arza" Kaya said getting back to the main point

"Don't spill the beans yet, do it when I'm at yours!" I yelled

I then hung up after exchanging our goodbyes.

I drove through the McDonalds drive thru and got food for kaya too. Whatever this important thing was, lets spice it up with food.

I rang the bell and waited out of kayas house patiently till she opened.

kaya felt lonely whenever Asif left to work, so she told him about it, and so him being the nice person he is, got a house close to Zuhair uncles.

The door was pulled open by Zahra aapi.

I didn't know we had extra company. I don't have an extra burger!

"Assalamu alaikum." I said smiling politely.

"wa alaikum assalam" she replied stepping aside so I could enter.

"Arzaaa" kaya yelled running towards me and engulfing into an hug

"okay spill! you've literally got me at the edge and I've got us burgers! The three of us could share, and so silly of you to not say Zahra aapi was coming too!!" I replied "And aapi, wheres majid?"

"Yeah my bad, I forgot. Lets head to the hall yeah?" kaya said

"He's at mamas" she said smiling

"ohhh" I replied nodding my head.

"coffee or tea?" kaya asked

"Tea duh!" I replied

when she was about to head to the kitchen, when Zahra aapi spoke.

"Kaya, you stay and talk to her, I'll make the tea." she said smiling

"Alrighty cool" kaya said smiling

"Why is Hana not here?" I asked Kaya

"She said she couldn't come since she's going to visit her nani" Kaya replied

"Oh. I haven't spoken to her since yesterday morning! Ugh. I make a terrible friend." I replied slapping my forehead

"Nah, you were busy. She understands, so don't worry." she said patting my shoulder

"Eh. That's a lame excuse." I said laughing

The three of us were seated on the sofa laughing till our hearts content.

Gosh I didn't know how badly I wanted this till now.

"So azoora. Did you look into the proposals yet?" kaya asked

"Umm.. No.." I said laughing guiltily

"Oh good!" she yelled happily looking at Zahra aapi

Zahra aapi, who previously looked stressed now looked slightly relaxed.

wait what? I thought the two would lecture me or something.

"So I'm going to say you something, and I need you to be patient with me and cooperate. Mostly, be calm! please." Kaya said looking serious "Do you have your inhaler?!" she then asked.

"Is this something to do with why you called me over? Damn. You sound so serious" I said laughing lightly "yes I do have it" I said patting my bag "Now go on"

"What if I were to tell you someone I know, wants to marry you? " She asked slowly

I burst out laughing.

I spoke once I was done. I looked like a fool laughing while the two looked terribly serious.

"I would laugh like I previously did, then say your insane. Kaya I'm sure all those proposals I previously got was parents forcing their kids." I said lightly laughing and shaking my head "Nobody in there right mind would want to marry me!"

"Well, I guess my brother has lost his mind then" Zahra aapi whispered
