The fireworks at Disney were some of my favorite things about the park. The castle is all lit up so beautifully and the fireworks are absolutely spectacular, plus with the midnight ones, the park is mainly empty so you can get as close as you want. Herc started face-timing Laf who stayed behind while we went to the park via Monorail. Alex looked really distant again so I nudged him "You gonna make it Lexi?" I asked and he nodded "Oh yeah, just a tad bit tired" He said and rubbed his eyes, but it didn't look like he was tired

"Oh ok" I kissed his cheek which helped him. Laf and Herc were chatting over the phone as we pulled up to the station at the entrance of the park. We filed out and walked up Main-street, though it was mostly deserted by now and the castle was in full view

Alex looked increasingly uncomfortable and I was starting to get worried "Alex should we go back?" I asked and he shook his head vigorously "Nope, I'm good, I want to see the fireworks" He said and added a smile. I sighed "Alright, but I'm gonna have a big 'I told you so' moment when I have to carry you back" I said and he rolled his eyes "I'll be fine John" he reassured

Herc said something to Laf, though I couldn't hear. Though whatever it was, Laf started screaming from excitement.  Herc tried to quiet him down and he slipped into French and Alex turned bright red "Sometimes I wish I didn't know French" He said

"They better not be planning on fucking in our room" I said and crossed my arms. Herc shot me a look and Alex laughed. That at least got Laf to shut up "We will be doing nothing of the sort!!" Laf explained and I rolled my eyes "Oh sure" I said and winked. Laf turned bright red and Herc laughed. Alex laughed too and checked the time "11:50... ten minutes till the fireworks" He said it almost anxiously. Something definitely was up with him, and the look on Herc and Laf's face weren't helping

"Alex, are you 100% positive that everything is ok?" I asked more sternly. Alex nodded "200% certain" he smiled. I sighed with relief and smiled back "5 minuets guys" Herc called "I'm gonna move to the balcony and see if I can see the fireworks from here" Laf said through the phone. Alex shifted again and I glanced at him slightly "Lexi?"

Holy shit my heart was beating like crazy- There were about a million things whirling through my mind. What if I mess up? What if I don't time it right? What if.... what if he says no...? No- don't think about that last one... just.. ask... "Lexi?" John called worriedly. I looked at Herc who nodded and got the recorder on his phone, and flipped it so Laf could see. I nodded back slightly then turned back to John who looked pretty confused

"Alex is everything ok?" he asked again and I nodded before checking the time. 11:59... alright here goes nothing...

"Actually... there is something.." I said and turned to John "Well what is it?" He asked. I went over to him and took his hands gently "Lexi-" he started but I cut him off "Just- let me do this" I smiled softly and turned him so we were standing parallel to the castle. "Alex what-" he tried again but I kissed his hand and he shut up. I took a deep breath and started talking

"John... we've been dating for about 2 years... and I want to make it more official" I said and let go of his hands "Like what do you mean?" John asked. I smiled softly "Y'know... they say Midnight is a magical hour... so?" I steeled myself and grabbed the box from my back pocket. "Alex-" He gasped as I sunk down to one knee. "John Laurens... will you marry me?" I asked him, opening the box to show a simple ring. John was never a super big fancy person, so I went with just a simple diamond ring. He gasped and his eyes teared up

"Oh Alex....." He said and covered his mouth "Yes?" I asked and he nodded vigorously "YES!!" He laughed happily and pulled me up and hugged me tightly. Right as I stood up, the first fireworks went off and I stood on my tip toes to plant a kiss on John's lips. I faintly heard some people cheering in the background, the loudest being Herc and Laf, though I just focused on the kiss that John and I shared

We finally had to break away to breath and he was crying from joy. I quickly took his hand and slipped the ring onto it before we embraced and watched the rest of the fireworks together, this time not as boyfriends, but as fiances
