Jade stood with Selina on the edge of the building. They were high at the top. They smiled at each other. Then looked out over the city. "Nice night for it." Jade smiled at Selina. "Sure is Kitten." Selina said as they slipped down on to the lower part of the building together. From there they slid down the awning one at a time to the street below. Tonight as most nights in Gotham was alive. There were people everywhere. Selina walked through the crowd with confidence. She wore her black leathers as normal now she was all of 13. Jade was in her ripped jeans, with a black wool jacket. It had buckles and extra pockets. She was now all of 12. Life had been hard, but the girls had survived. With the help of Fish Mooney the top gangster in the Narrows. They had not starved, or been taken. For that they were both very loyal to her.
As Selina walked through the crowd she slit a shopping bag open. Out slipped a two bottles of milk. Jade stopped to help the woman pick up her goodies. Selina swooped in and took the milk. Jade apologized and run. She had gotten the woman's purse. The girls met up later near the huge rubbish bins. They laughed together. "Look what I got?" Jade said as she emptied the money out of the purse. "Same." Selina said with a smile. She had taken some random's wallet. After pocketing the money. The girls celebrated with the milk. Selina fed the stray cats. Before they run off to the roof tops again. "Wait." Selina said holding Jade back. Jade looked down. She seen what Selina was looking at. She slunk back into the darkness.
"I thought the music was lovely. What did you think Bruce?" Mother asked. "I think it was kinda lame." The boy said. He was about Jade's age. He was walking with his parents. Between them. "What is this Kinda. It was totally lame." Farther said. Jade and Selina were so cought up in the moment they did not see the man. Until it was to late. He stood before them in black. With a hood over his face. "Give me your money." He demanded of them. "No problem." Farther said handing over his wallet. Mother handed over her purse. "Be calm Bruce." Farther said. "The pearls." The robber said. Mother handed them over with a shaky hand. The robber took them. He stuffed them into his pocket. A strand broke and bounced on the ground. At the same time the robber, become a murderer. He open fire on Farther, then Mother. He pointed the gun at the boy. Then walked away. Jade and Selina sat in shock. Not for the Murder, they seen that nearly every day. But for the way it was done. So deliberate. The boy fell to his knees shaking Mother and Farther. He then screamed. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Selina and Jade sat and watched as the police arrived. The boy sat on the stairs. With a blanket. "Do ya think he will speak again?" Jade asked Selina. "Yes. I am sure he will." Selina said. "I feel sad for him Sena. To see his family gunned down like that. It is sad." Jade said. The girls hugged again. They sat and watched. "Oh look Sena it's Harvey Bullock. Looks like he has a new partner. He don't look so bad." Jade said eyeing the new detective up. "Well he has got the boy talking. Do you know who he is Jade?" Selina asked. "Na." Jade said losing interest now. "That is Bruce Wayne. I wonder where the other half is?" Selina said. "What do ya mean other half?" Jade asked. "His twin." Selina said. "Oh him. Maybe at home with his baby sitter." Jade said with a giggle. "Come on lets scram." Selina said as they girls both run off.
