I awoke back in bed, I groaned as I sat up. John was sitting in a chair next to me, I coughed and rubbed the back of my head slightly. John jumped and his gaze drifted to me in an instant, seeing me awake and sitting up he gave me a soft hug. He finally pulled back and looked at me, I could see worry in his eyes.

"What happened?" He questioned his tone serious, I heard a faint ringing in the back of my mind but I ignored it.

"Scarlett accidentally showed me a memory it's no big deal," I shrugged trying to shake the subject, John didn't look so convinced but someone shouted his name from down the hall which made him sigh. I glared at him as he stood up, I knew what he was doing and I wasn't going to let him go alone.

"Valora stay, I can't risk you getting hurt," He ordered sternly, I stood and grabbed my armour before I turned to glare at him again.

"I told you Chief I'm going weather they like it or not!" I snapped, he winced as I stormed past him putting my armour on as I went. Eventually I made my way into the docking bay, most soldiers looked shocked to see me after what just happened.

"Umm spartan aren't you meant to be in the Med bay resting?" A commander questioned, I snapped my head towards him and he backed off a bit. Seeing a pelican starting up with quite a few troops on board I walked over, the marines on board gave me respectful nods after seeing my snappy temper. Chief hopped on board shortly after, I turned away from him angrily whenever he tried to talk to me. I still had no clue what the mission was about nor did I care, it got me out of the damned ship so I didn't see any reason not to come. A hand on my shoulder made me turn my head slightly, John had taken his helmet off to look at me through saddened eyes.

"Valora this mission is a death sentence for most of these marines, we have to break into a covenant fleet commander ship and take out the covenant inside, don't go doing anything reckless alright?" John explained, I shrugged his hand off my shoulder.

"No man is dying on this mission John, and I mean NO man," I grumbled, he gave a sigh and put his helmet back on.

[hey Valora are you Ok? I've never seen you this angry at him before]

Yeah I'm fine, just hate the fact nobody thinks I can handle myself anymore.

[alrighty just don't be too mad at him, he loves you more then you know]

HE DOESN'T LOVE ME HE ONLY LOVES CADEN AND HE'S ONLY WITH ME BECAUSE I LOOK AND ACT LIKE HER!

[that's not true Valora...]

Just shut up Scarlett.

The ship coming to a spiraling stop caused me to snap back to reality, John was first to stand as the doors began to open. Once they were just open enough to fit through I jumped out shooting at any covenant who dared come into my vision, anger drove me on. I wouldn't fail this mission nor would anyone die, as we pressed through the halls towards the main control room we came across a large room filled with Elite covenant.

"GO ON AHEAD! I got this," I smirked pulling out my dagger, using ammo against sword fighting guys was a coward move and I showed no fear in this fight. The rest of the squad rushed away, John was hesitant but knew I would only yell at him afterwards. I began to circle with the biggest of the Elites his sword glowing a somewhat gold colour, he gave an angry roar before he charged. I dodged to the side swinging my dagger narrowly missing him as he skidded to a stop, heaving a deep breath I jumped to the side as he charged again. Unless I could get behind him and on his back this would be an energy fight, the other Elites watched curiously as their leader charged and swung but always missing. Finally I managed to get close enough to cut his leg with my combat knife, he roared in pain and anger and swung much sooner then I expected. A searing pain shot through my side but I ignored it and fought on, if I was going to die I was taking this fucker down with me. Staggering around in a circle again both with bad injuries we went, I was running out of energy but I needed to win this fight. We both charged at the same time, I slid down on my back cutting both the Elites legs deeply which caused him to fall down. I stood and turned to face him, he looked up at me with angry unforgiving eyes. The way his stone cold gaze stared at me made me back up, I looked around at the Elites that watched on some scared others terrified. This was their leader, their trusted friend. I held my head and closed my eyes, I couldn't believe I was showing mercy to the enemy. I stood there watching the Elite for a few moments, he seemed to be studying me. I took a deep breath and approached him, he gave me a nod and held his head low awaiting his death. Though my gut told me otherwise I held my hand out, the Elites began to murmur amongst themselves at my actions. The Elite I had been fighting looked at me confused but took my hand none the less, I helped him over to a spot where he could rest hidden from the prying eyes of my squad. Now that my adrenaline rush was gone the searing pain from the fight kicked in, I held my side in agony but I knew I had to find my squad and quick.

"We will escort you human to the shipmaster's control room so long as you agree to help us," One of the Elites offered, I nodded holding my wound but I needed to stop the onslaught. Rushing through the halls with my new guards I began to grow dizzy from blood loss, ignoring the pain we burst into the main room where John stood protecting the squad.

"STOP THIS FIGHTING NOW!!" I roared over the noise, everyone and everything stopped to look my way.

"VALORA WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THE COVENANT!!??" John snarled angrily, I limped forwards blood oozing from my wound like a flowing river as I moved.

"The covenant are like us in more ways then one! They have families! Feelings! A right to live! Yet here we are fighting like mongrels over scraps of food! Why fight over such stupid reasons when we can live at peace and fight other threats!?" I yelled ignoring John's question, the marines in the squad lowered their guns looking around.

"THEY KILLED CADEN VALORA AND THAT IS SOMETHING I CAN'T FORGIVE!!" John cried, I walked over to him and took my helmet off staring at him with cold eyes.

"You never loved me, you always loved her and always treated me like I was nothing but her, the covenant didn't mean to kill her, they were controlling the serpent that they had planted in her, once it kills its host it breaks free and creates the flood, now get your sorry ass back to the ship before I kill you myself," I hissed at him, he stood there for a moment before walking away. I kept my head facing the ground trying to hold back tears, what looked to be the shipmaster of the fleet walked over his armour a shiny black.

"You have done a brave but foolish thing human, if you can convince your leader to come to terms of peace then we will unite our army's and make our forces stronger," he offered, I nodded my strength fading fast. I coughed and collapsed holding my side, a few Elites came over with strange objects and liquids but my vision faded to black before they did anything and I was gone.
