Ashley's POV
"Good! Let's go." The leader said, talking in his earpiece. "All of you! Move to the corner! Now!" We were ushered to the corner while they rounded up and have their great escape.
I thought we were spared but I was wrong. The leader stopped in front of us and pulled me away. "You're coming with us!" And before I can react, I heard a shot
Bang!
"Kyahhhhh!" I screamed in horror as my wife was shot to the head. "Dylan!!!!! Dylan baby!" With all my might, I fought him and dove towards my wife. "Honey, baby! Please!" I tried to apply pressure on her wound but I knew it was too late. She was shot point blank at the head. No matter how I shook her, she stayed unresponsive.
Bang!
Another shot was made and I saw the leader fell to the floor. A woman dressed in sailor uniform shot him but she only wounded him. He fell down but still alive.
Bang!
The woman fell bloodied on the ground. Reddish brown stains painted the center of her white uniform.
"Damn bitch! Brother are you okay?" The second on command then assisted his fallen comrades.
"It's just flesh. Come on! Let's get out of here."
The man pulled me from my fallen wife. At that point, I lost all strength to resist. And at that moment, I wished that he's just kill me too.
Their ship was a lot smaller than the cruise ship. It was rusty and smelled like a rotten fish. It was so gross.
One by one, we crossed the make shift bridge that they used to aboard our shift. One girl almost fell down.
We were pushed towards the bottom of the ship were there are prison cells. It was dark and only illuminated by a single torch light.
There were also some water leaking from below. The place was moist and damp but it doesn't matter. My wife's dead. I'm as good as dead.
I walked with the other's with Anna and some random girl assisting me, pulling up the weight that my weakened knees failed to support.
They finally let go and I instantly crumpled to the ground. I held my knees closed to my chest as I burst myself to tears.
I lost her.
I lost the love of my life.
I lost my soulmate.
After all we have been gone through.
I felt comforting hands in my shoulder but I'm too devastated to know to whom it belonged. It must be Anna's. But more hands started to comfort me but all it does was annoy me.
"Would you please me me alone." I said, still trying to be polite.
"Ash..." Anna tried but this time I rudely cut her off.
"Shut the fuck up and leave me alone!" I yelled as I cried to myself.
After a few moments, we heard foot prints and laughing sounds. Three men came in sight as the single source of light hit them.
They were talking rubbish and in sloppy speech. They were drunk. One of them tried to open the door buy failed miserable. He can't get the key in due to his drunken state.
"Fuck! Move!" The other man said and shove the first one down. He wasn't too drunk and managed to unlock the door in a single try.
The girls then tried to move at our side which was the far end. "Just take one! Hurry up!" The third guy said.
"I'm... hic... choo... hic... sing..." Said the other.
"They look the same. Just grab one." And so he did. The unlucky girl cried for help but it was futile. They have guns, we have nothing and even if we tried to overpower them, more men should be waiting outside and the worst was, we were at the middle of the ocean at the middle of nowhere.
"Help!!!!" she tried and tried but her plead landed on deft ears. If Dylan was here, she would have done something. The thought of her made me cry again.
"Be strong Ashley." Anna said.
"How could you asked me that. My wife was killed." My voice's calmer now. Crying myself out was too exhausting.
"That's right... your wife's dead but you need to think about your son." Mikey... I almost forgotten about him. It never bother me one bit that he's not our biological son we love him like he was ours. And with my wife gone, he's all I got.
Oh my goodness... dad! He'll be devastated. She's the apple of his eyes. She means the world to him just like mine.
I must survive. I need to survive. I need to be able to tell him our ordeal and made the people responsible pay. That idiot just made the worst decision of his life and I'll make sure that he'll be begging for death.
"Are you okay Anna?" Sam inquired. "She's going to be okay... Em's there... she's a great doctor." I almost forgot that Van has been shot too. But unlike me wife, she was only shot to the leg. Why would they need to kill my wife!
"I am... don't worry about me. I know my wife, that's nothing to her. I'm more worried about her." She sincerely said. It was thoughtful of her thinking about other people whom she barely knew before her own wife. "I'm more afraid of what's going to happen next. Van's overprotective. She might kill everyone on this ship just to get me. And It'll going to be a blood bath. She wouldn't care about casualty. She'll kill everyone in her way."
"What do you mean?" Mia asked.
"You're an ADA. It's best that you don't know." She responded.
It seems like Dylan's not the only one living a double life. The seriousness in Anna's voice was proof enough that she wasn't making things up.
"Will we be rescued?" Some girl asked.
"I don't know about you. But I know my wife's coming for me." She replied honestly.
"Don't loose hope everyone. Rescue will come." Sam replied.
"How would you know?" Another girl asked.
"Because my fiance's on the ship and she's a cop. She'll find away to get to us and unlike Van, she have a sworn duty to protect and serve. She'll come for me. She'll come for us." Sam stated.
Hearing them talk about their wives devastated me more. Every time I got into trouble, Dylan was there to rescue me. From the thugs, from Chris, from The Snake. She always come to my rescue.
But now she's dead.
And no one's coming for me.
