Ashley's POV
I cling to my wife as if my life depended on it. We were still both soaking wet after jumping into the water. We never spoke a until word from the mini speed boat ride, up the cruise ship and the chopper.
Dan, Dylan and I left the scene on their chopper together with the Kramer's private army. As we took off, I watched as another smaller chopper landed where Van and Anna boarded.
We were brought directly at their hospital were they will check us out. I'm physically okay but mentally not. My wife on the other hand was shot to the head. They needed to thoroughly examine the extend of the damage to the titanium plate and her skull.
"Give us a minute please." She said as the nurse gave us a hospital gown. I've always hated wearing hospital gowns. They reminded me of our incidents in the past. I wish they had given me a scrub.
"Are you okay?" My very loving wife asked.
"I'm not." I told her. Never letting go. "I thought you're dead. I thought I lost you forever." Was my soft cry of response.
"I promised you eternity and I always keep my promise." Her reply made me cry.
"I heart never stopped believing that you'll come and you did."
Then there was a knock on our door. The whole family came in except the kids. It was nearing dawn and I believe they let them sleep. Also, it wouldn't be good for Mikey to know that he almost lost his mothers. He's too young for this craziness.
His father slowly walked towards us and enveloped us in a very tight bear hug. "I almost lost you too my cub." He said to her daughter. "And you too." His voice was full of seriousness, it lacked it's usually cheerfulness. This was the first time I saw him like this, so vulnerable and scared.
Then An and Dan came to hug us. We owe everything to Dan. If she wasn't very paranoid about us going into the cruise, she would have never made that watch. Dylan told me about it when I asked how did he manage to get help so fast.
Then there was another knock. "Sorry but we need to check the patients." The nurse said from the door. Seeing that we haven't changed yet, she gave us a few minutes and then left again.
"We'll need to change." I said.
"Let't use the bathroom." Dylan then pulled me into the bathroom. After we changed, we called the nurse and she came in with Dr. Moore and Dr. Keith. I worked with them and I knew they were good.
"Dr. Thompson, I'm sorry to hear what happened. But I need you to come with me to the exam room so I can clear you." Dr. Moore said. She was already and an attending at this hospital. She was one of the kindest doctors I've worked with. She knew all her patients by name not by their sickness.
Before I followed her, I took a glance at my wife and Dan.
They have this look on their eyes that indicated trouble.
Dan had some information.
And it wasn't good.

Dylan's POV
"So how is it?" Dan asked as soon as I stepped out of the exam room. Dad was on her side. An must be with Ashley right now.
They took an x-ray of my head and the result wasn't good. "The bullet caused a micro crack in the titanium plate. They would need to replace it but I had to wait since they still need to order one." I then looked at my dad.
"I'll put a rush on it. I have also contacted our engineering department and they said they have developed a titanium plate that was ten times sturdier than the one they placed on your years ago." That's glad to know. My father's company was the one who made the plate on my head when I was young. It wasn't a surprise for them to improve it.
