Owen
The next morning started as usual as I met up with Dr. Roberts in a quick meeting before having some breakfast in my office. It was troublesome trying to get the word out about a possible intruder going around without letting them know we were looking for them. Then there was the curious case of Jessica's old roommate Madison, no one could confirm she was missing, but they also couldn't confirm she wasn't missing. Thinking of what happened to her made me think of what could have possibly happened to Sang if Arrow hadn't rushed to defend her. I wasn't very find of the wolf hybrid but knowing he protected the bird my team and I loved did help my view of him.
I couldn't help wondering where Sang was, and what she was doing at the moment. I had heard clearly from the rest of my team that everyone had taken her on a date of sorts, everyone but me. I had been so busy since we had arrived back at the compound that I hadn't been able to spend much time with her or the others, and none of it had been one on one time since we got back. I found myself somewhat wishing we were stuck in another tree alone together, or anywhere that I could spend time with her and not be stuck working. Sean had been sure to tease me on not asking her out yet, although I couldn't see how spending his entire date having her make medical herbs would be that great.
I decided to take a break from my desk work to go check in with how the research was coming on the cure. The first bit had been slow going but now that everyone had started to decipher all the notes, things were starting to look a bit brighter. "Ah, if it isn't young Mr. Blackbourne, come to check in?" Phillips voiced as I was quick to agreed to his question. "How are things coming along?" I asked, a question I usually saved for Sean but he was busy in medical today, keeping an eye out for sick patients.
"Well we've made a good deal of progress and we've started to do a few little tests, no real results yet though. That little bird of yours is pretty helpful considering she's brought us a few of the dead sick squirrels they caught in her snares. As far as I've found it's the safest method of doing tests with the virus since they can't fight back." He stated and I do my best to hide my surprise. No one mentioned that Sang had been helping with the cure research, as far as I'd seen other than bringing food for everyone on occasion she stayed as far away as possible. "I'm beginning to think that the testing might be futile without the three key ingredients for the cure." Phillips frowned and I sighed.
"Problem is we don't have a clue where those ingredients are or how to get them, even if we did somebody would have to go get them and bring them back." Ramirez states on a frown. "Jeffreys still refuses to help as well which only adds to our workload." Phillips states softly. "He does have his reasons." I nod solemnly, the virus had wiped out his entire family in a matter of days, and unlike many of us those wounds were still fresh for him. I discussed a few options with the research team before heading out to get back to my desk work. I'd decided to take a longer trail to enjoy the walk when a horse snorting drew my attention to where a familiar bird was trotting my way on her huge black stallion, choosing this path was a better idea than I thought.
Sang
I had woken early to take care of all my chores, at the barn I found that sometime during the night Amber had given birth to a set of redish brown twins. They were so clearly identical that other than the fact one was male and one was female, you couldn't tell them apart. Once I had taken care of all of them I decided to brush Nightmare out and take him for a ride through some of the trails inside the fence. I knew it was good to keep him from getting lazy or wild but it also helped relax me and clear my head. I was a bit surprised when I came up one trail to see Owen out for a mid morning stroll, not that I minded seeing him glance over at me with that millimeter smile of his.
