tumble is a good word
for when you aren't crashing down.
you dust your bruised knees off
and hobble back up.
fresh is a good word
for when you lose something.
it may feel like a void,
but your starting anew. trust me.
words are good for so long,
and then we switch them out.
we buy yellow backpacks instead of black and white,
dust our cherry wood dressers with moms makeup brushes.
go with your big brother for goodwill runs
find a free antique chair.
or maybe,
just
take a shower.
wash your face.
dance in your room, all alone.
play dress up.
put on some makeup.
that's just as fresh.
even if you don't think you do,
spring cleaning nips you on the back
because we all do it
just some smaller than others.
it's like new years
except without the epilepsy
and without the fire skies.
now you have short sleeved camp shirts
and fluffy baby boy colors above.
it's an exchange,
it's a spring cleaning.-jb
