A/N: Katniss and Peeta aren't in this one, and the games won't be very long, don't really know how to write them, not really good at that sort of stuff, but there will be some :) but yeah, there is no 'star crossed lovers' in here, they are just normal district 12 tributes, but it is the 74th? Get it? Enjoy!

----------

I stand at the station, straing at the train, whish is taking the only person I really love and care for away from me. I clutch onto Julia's hand to support me and she has her other arm around me, trying to comfort me.

I'm past the blubbering, crying and sobbing stage... for now, but all I do now, is just stand there and watch, with no expression on my face. I can't show anything, I have to be strong for him, show him that I have enough trust in him, to be able to win.

The train's whistle makes a loud noise, and it urges forward. A bubble rises in my throat as I see Cato, getting further and further away. I rasie my hand to wave and he mirrors me.

Julia walks me home, as my dad has already returned, probably annoyed that I didn't volunteer.

"He'll be back Emerald, you know him well enough, that he doesn't like being beaten," She says and I smile,

"You're right. But what would you do? Just get over it? I don't think so, I can't help being upset,"

"Look," She says, steeping infront of me and facing me. She grabs my hands and starts talking again. "Why are you upset now? He is still alive, and will probably stay like that for the whole games," She says.

"He isn't dead," She says giving my hands a tight squeeze.

"Okay, yep, alright," I say, just to shut her up.

"Good. Let's go," She says pulling me towards my house.

We walk in silence, well, Julia tries to start conversation, but I reply with one word answers. I don't feel like talking to anyone, but Cato.

"I'll see you tomorrow," She says and I shake my head.

"Probably not," I say and she play-scowls.

"I won't let you stay in your house for the whole 3 weeks. Or I'll come over, you have no choice but to socialise," She says and I smile.

"I'll see you tomorrow then. If I don't have a choice," I say walking through my door.

I walk straight to my room and fall onto my bed.

"Emerald?" My dad says, "Emerald, come and watch the rest of the reapings," He says and I shake my head.

"I don't want to," I say and he sighs

"Come on, it will get your mind off things," He says in a sincere tone. "Come on," He says patting my back and pulling me up.

"Why would I want to see who Cato could potentially be killing or who will kill him?" I say and he huffs.

"To know, that he is going to be fine," He says and I sit up.

"Fine, whatever," I say sitting up and walking past him.

I sit on the couch and he flicks the T.V on. After about 10 minutes, the reapings start and of course they start at District 1. The boy tribute, seems to be a bit taller than Cato, maybe a few inches. The girl, she is the prettiest girl I've ever seen. Jealousy spreads through me.

He won't get with her, don't be stupid Emerald.

"Don't worry Emerald," He says, almost like he's reading my mind.

"I know," I say and stop talking. District 2 is obviously next and I don't want to watch, but I decide to stay.

Distric 3's tributes don't look to special, they might be a year younger than me, or same age, but you can't tell just from looking at them. The rest of the tributes don't seem so special. The only person that looks like a threat are from District 1, and not to kill him. She looks like a threat to me.

"Well, this year should be interesting," Dad says standing up and walking to the kitchen.

"I don't want to watch it," I say walking back into my room, lying down, hoping to fall asleep and not wake up until Cato comes back home.
