Disclaimer: I don't own Cato or the careers, or the idea of the games. That would come from the genius mind of Suzanne Collins. No copyright infringement was intended. Hope you enjoy!!

"Emerald," He says nudging my shoulder, "Emerald, wake up," I roll over and sigh, covering my eyes with my hands. "You have training," My dad says,
"I don't want to go. I don't want to be in the hunger games dad. I want to live here, I want to LIVE!" I swear I say the same thing every morning.
"You will, that's why you go to training," he says walking out my door, switching the light on.
The light burns my eyes. Dad!! Why do you do this to me! We are supposed to have a choice to do training, nearly everyone chooses to do it anyhow, it's not like they are going to run out of tributes!
The only motivation I have to get out of bed, is when I realise I get to see Cato.
"YOU HAVE 20 MINUTES EMERALD!!" Dad's voice booms from the kitchen. I push the blankets back and pick up my uniform off the floor.
I get dressed and walk out to the kitchen pulling a brush through my hair, back up to a ponytail, swiping the piece of toast off the bench.
"See you dad," I say grabbing my bag and walking towards the door.
"Bye Emerald," He yells after me. He yells a lot.
I walk to the training centre and dump my bag in my locker and look around for Cato. Found him! I walk over quietly and slip my arms around his waist.
"Hey Cato," I say resting my cheek on his back.
"Hey Em," He says turning around giving me a proper hug.
"Do you want to do something tonight?" He asks as his friends walk away discreetly,
"What do you have in mind?" I ask pulling my head back to look him in the eye, a smirk playing on my lips.
"Dinner, just hang out," He shrugs.
"Sure, do you want to go after training has finished?" I say and he nods and kisses my cheek. My ears are blasted with the bell that signals it's time to go to class.
"Well then, what have you got first?" I ask pulling my arms from around his waist.
"Spear throwing," He smiles,
"Alright, I'll see you after," I say walking back to my locker getting my survival book.
"Emerald!" Someone says and I recognise the same loud voice. Julia. "Hey," She says reaching my locker. "Are we going to class?" She asks. I nod,
"Yep, let's go," I say slamming my locker closed.
"What's the matter?" She asks, "Nothing, it doesn't close otherwise," I say chuckling to myself.
"Right," She nods, eyeing me carefully,
"Have you seen Cato?"
"Yeah, I saw him first thing, I always do," I say smiling. Even just thinking about him makes me smile.
"You guys are so cute," She coos.
"Say that in front of him, he might kill you for calling him cute," I say and we both crack up laughing.
"Noted," She says and I laugh.
We do the same thing every lesson, sit in the back of the class and listen to Mr Daly drone on about the same old lessons . I actually can't concentrate in this class. This survival class, is the most boring class in the world, with the most boring teacher. It takes a survival skill just to make it through the class.
