I wake up to a banging on the door. Dad's at work, he'll watch the games at work,. or the start of them anyway.
"EMERALD!"
Great, it's Julia.
"I'M COMING!" I say getting out of bed lazily, rubbing my eyes.
I thump towards the door, still half asleep and open the door to Julia standing there, staring across the street.
"About time," She says walking past me.
"Please, come in Julia," I say gesturing after her.
She collapses on the couch and turns the T.V on.
"How come you weren't up? It starts in half an hour," She says finding the channel.
"I would of gotten up in half an hour," I say sitting next to her.
"Sure,"
"I just hope this is the quickest games we've seen in a while, I want him home,"
"They'll be over soon enough," She says, patting me on the back.
The screen shows the hosts, Ceaser and Claudius, and a clock in the background, which once the games have started, will time how long the tributes will be in the arena.
"So who's the favourite so far?" Claudius asks, as if the camera isn't even there.
"Well Claudius, I'm sure Panem will be very happy with this, but Cato, has the most amount of people lining up to be his sponsor. I'm sure a certain Emerald in District 2 will be pretty happy with that too," Ceaser says, nudging his co-host with his elbow.
I go bright red, realizing that the whole of Panem, pretty much knows who I am. Not if they saw me, but they know the name.
"This is so embarrasing," I say, throwing my head in my hands.
"What? They only said your name," She says chuckling.
"But they're talking about us like we're a married couple," I say
"No their not. I'm sure everyone in the Capitol probably love you, and they wouldn't know you if you walked down the street. Shhhh, their still talking about you two," She says, waving me around, nearly smacking my face in the process.
"I tell you what I think Ceaser, I think, if Cato wins this we should get Emerald out here, to join him on the stage as a surprise for Cato," He says and my heart jumps.
"I think you're on to something, imagine that, reuniting them, on national T.V, so everyone can watch. Now that, that would be great," He says and I don't know why I get excited, it probably won't happen, but just thinking about it makes me the happiest girl alive. I actually forget for a minute that my boyfriend might be killed in a matter of hours.
"Back to the games, I'm excited to see the arena, the Gamemakers get better and better at designing arena's every year. Next year should be a treat," He says, flipping through some papers on his desk when he finishes talking.
"Tell me when it's starting," I say standing up and walking to the kitchen.
"Where are you going?" She says, leaning forward,
"Considering, I haven't had time to eat anything, where do you think?"
"Why didn't you eat before I came around?" She says and I shoot her a look, "Oh right, I woke you up," She chuckles.
"Yeah, thanks for that," I say continuing into the kitchen.
After I've eaten, I delay walking back into the T.V room as much as I can.
