JUGHEAD POV

We drove to Riverdale Lake and went to a stand where a guy was letting us rent boats. We got a boat that needed ore's and was old fashioned. I was the one to row the boat and we went far out on the lake. Betty was shaking so I could tell that she was very nervous. I stopped rowing so we were just far out on the lake.

"Betty, are you ok?"

"I'm just really scared of the water."

"Why?"

"It's a long story." Betty sighed.

"I'm all ears. I want to know everything."

"When I was 4-years old, my family went to go see my aunt. My aunt lives in this huge lake house. Anyways, when we were on her boat on the lake, my siblings were jumping around and I did the same. I tripped and hit my head and fell in the water. I was unconscious and I was under the water for a good 7-minutes. When they found me...it was a miracle that I survived. But ever since then, I've been scared of the beach, pools, lakes, even ponds. I remember the whole thing like it was yesterday."

"Betty, it's ok now. You just didn't know how to swim at the time."

"Jughead...tell me something good."

"I love you and you're the reason I want to wake up every morning"

"That's the nicest thing I've heard." Betty smiled. I chuckled and we were smiling. Then we saw a huge speedboat coming towards us and from what I could tell, the guys on the speedboat were wasted. They were laughing and rammed into our boat. They laughed and were howling and rammed into our boat again...and it knocked us completely over. I was underwater in the cold water and I knew some what how to swim.

I kicked and reach for the boat. It took much effort but I was able to get up. I gasped for air when I was up and grabbed onto the upside down boat. The wasted men and their boat were gone. I was able to get myself on top of the upside down boat and that's when I realized...my oxygen tube was gone. I most likely had 10-minutes until I died so I tried to stay calm...until I remembered Betty. I looked around and was in a panic.

"Betty!" I screamed. I got off the boat and still tried to hang on. I let go and went under water and looked around...nothing. I came up for air and then went down again. I saw Betty deep down and I swam down to grab her. She seemed lifeless, and it terrified me seeing her like that.

I pulled her up and grabbed onto the boat. I tried to hold on to the boat and at the same time Betty, but I had to let go of the boat. I saw a dock nearby and I swam to it weakly. When I got to the dock, I pushed Betty's body up there and then I followed. I shook Betty and I started to scream for help.

"Help! Help us, please! I need an ambulance!" I screamed. I looked around and then saw nothing. I looked at Betty and started to do CPR. 20 chest-compressions and 4 breaths.

"Come on, Betty, Breathe." I groaned. I kept doing CPR for minutes. The oxygen from my lungs that keep me alive...I was giving to her to keep her alive. After a few minutes of breathing into her, I gasped for air and laid flat on the dock. I was gasping for air and looked at the stars above me. I heard coughing next to me and looked over and saw Betty spitting up water. We looked at each other and then I closed my eyes...taking my final breath.
