getting to know discord

We walked into the cottage and I took a seat on a weird looking couch that I didn't know was there before. As I sat down I heard a giggle.

"Haha! You're sitting on my funny bone!" I jumped up and noticed I had sat on discord.

He appeared next to Fluttershy "you know, your friend here has no cutie mark" he pointed at my flanks.

"What's a cutie mark?"

Fluttershy gasped "you don't know what a cutie mark is?!! And why don't you have one?!!" She shook my shoulders.

"I don't know what you're talking about!" I yelled after my sudden earthquake.

"What are you thinking! That's no way to talk to my friend!" Discord slapped me back and forth "keep yourself together!"

I fell back, tears forming in my eyes. "I'm so sorry" discord kneeled down and held out his paw. I looked up into his eyes and our gazes locked as we began to blush.

He leaned in, his eyes closing, I was startled not knowing what to do.

"Ahem!" Fluttershy looked angrily at me, and discord pulled away before we touched. He blushed and smiled at me.

~time passes~

Fluttershy showed me to the room I would stay in, but she wouldn't smile or look at me. As soon as she left the room, I automatically crashed on my bed and sighed. I looked up at the ceiling and went over what happened.

I had no cutie mark.

I was in love with spike.

Or was it discord?

I didn't know what to think, but I did know hearts and hooves day was in three days. And I totally wanted to avoid it.

I heard a knock at the door. "Who is it?" I sat up and looked towards the door.

"Its discord. Can we talk?" My heart pounded at the sound of his voice.

"Yeah. Sure. The doors open." He poked his head in and automatically spotted me. I patted the spot next to me and he sat down, never taking his eyes off of me. And I never took my eyes off of him.

Discord sighed deeply "I know what happened with you and I but when I saw your eyes" he attempted to brush his fingers through my mane, but it was made of fire so he pulled his claw away "I felt like my entire life was made to live beside you."

"I..... I don't...?" He interrupted me, "I know what you're going to say... you're a pony I'm a creature incapable of love but...."

I pressed my hoof against his mouth " no. I'm not gonna say that." His eyes widened at my words. I continued, " I might consider your affections," I smiled. He smiled back and embraced me in a hug.

"Ow" I heard him whisper, and I had forgotten about my mane. I pulled away, "here," I took a necklace from  behind one of my scales. "Its enchanted. If you wear it, you become immune to fire. It belonged to my mom...." I drifted off, remembering my mother's death.

"Thank you," discord lifted up my chin, making out eyes meet. I heard the sound of hooves in the hallway.

"Go! Before she sees you" I smacked his back and he snapped his fingers and disappeared.

Fluttershy opened the door, "who are you talking to?" She asked, her eyes serious.

"Um... nopony!" I grinned sheepishly.

Fluttershy grunted and left.

I fell onto the bed again, looking distantly at the ceiling.

Do I love discord? Or do I love spike? How will I get a cutie mark?

Only time will tell. I slowly drifted off to sleep.
