WARMTH IN WINTER

•ღ•

-THIRD PERSON POV-

There were a bunch of people who took a certain risk.

And that risk was inviting Min Yoongi to a game of basketball.

Now these boys had no ill-will towards coaxing Yoongi to play with them, in fact, Yoongi agreed so easily and nonchalantly that they were the ones taken aback.

These boys comprised of mostly seniors, majority of which were part of the basketball varsity team, some were juniors, and a few were Yoongi's classmates.

Even Yoongi himself had no idea why he so blatantly decided to join the game instead of scaring those punks off like he usually did.

So, as he was sitting down on the open court's bench, a face towel draped over his neck with sweat accumulated, he chugged down on his water, gave one good look at the people around him, clicked his tongue and stood up.

"Let's not waste any time, yeah?"

The ball repeatedly appeared and disappeared in Yoongi's grasp, he continuously dribbled, his feet matching the pace of the ball, slick and eager. Yet, as he approached the half-court, an opponent blocked his path of movement, Yoongi scoffed, what a nuisance.

Due to the forsaken obstacle, Yoongi settled for making a half-court shoot and just wish it would get in. As he did, however, in the millisecond before his fingertips separated from the ball in a hopeful throw, his opponent's hands aimed for a block.

Yoongi knew he wasn't going to get the point.

But then, he caught someone from the corner of his eye, sitting down, anxiously waiting for who would score the point.

Yoo Y/N.

As if it was impulse, like his body and mind were acting on its own accord, he did what his opponent certainly did not expect.

Yoongi made a 360-turn to his left, and then ran forward; he successfully dodged the opponent.

When he was a mere diagonal three-meters away from the hoop, he made his shot, and he scored.

The open court was silent for only a moment, and then a cheer erupted from the bleachers, Yoongi wanted to look to said direction, yet he was distracted by the cheers of his "only-now-teammates" before the game proceeded.

From then on, every time Yoongi had the ball, it led his team to a triumphant shot, inching closer to their victory.

Every time Yoongi made a shot, his heart undoubtedly beat faster. Only it was unknown if it was because of his non-stop adrenaline running, or the squeals of support from a certain someone on the bleachers.

Every dribble made him finally in sync with something. Every pass of the ball made him realize that there was someone going to catch it, it gave him relief, unbeknownst to him. Every dodge made him feel empowered, in the way where it was not abusive. Every shot made his body feel lighter, a surprising feeling Yoongi admitted to almost never experiencing.
