Chapter 10

Complete silence reigned over the training grounds.
Naruto had his head down and Kakashi was staring at his back in sympathy.
  Sakura was staring ahead, and it was clear her thoughts were racing. Sasuke had a look of shock that tapered down into deep thought.
  Naruto waited, expecting to be hit or yelled at so was surprised when he felt arms wrap around him. He looked up, seeing pink. Sakura had rushed forward and hugged him.
  "Sakura..." he murmured,

"Naruto I'm sorry! I've treated you like trash and all you do is smile. Even when you live like this every day." Tears slip down her face and Naruto wraps his arms around the crying girl.

  "Sshhh Sakura-chan. It's fine. You didn't know better and I don't blame you -ttebeyo!" He smiled at her. Maybe this time around they could be friends earlier. 

 Naruto looked up to see Sasuke staring at him, analyzing him. Then he turns and huffs. "Dobe." He mutters, and if there was a fond undertone then Naruto did nothing to acknowledge it except to cheerfully reply, "Teme!"
The day goes on like normal, as does the rest of the week. D-ranks were getting old fast. Finally Naruto snaps.
 "Old man Hokage! Please send us on a better mission! These chores are not helping us! They are boring, and should be given to academy students anyway!" Everybody stared at Naruto, except Team seven. They were kind of expecting it. If you looked closely, you would see amusement in a certain silver haired Jounins eye. "Maa, Naruto, show some respect." He scolded.
  Naruto scowled. He was a Kage for Kamis sake! He shouldn't be stuck on D-ranks! It was humiliating and extremely downgrading. "Tell me Kashi-sensei. Would you go through what I am now, now?" He was implying their pride, their honor, of having been Kages. Kakashi winces slightly. "Touché. Anyways Hokage-Sama, I do believe my team is ready."

  "Kakashi-san? Are you sure they are ready for a C-rank?" Ah, there's Iruka. He'd been sitting quietly and had chosen now to speak up.

  "Maa Chunin-san. Don't worry! If anything happens I'm a Jounin! There is nothing to worry about." He reassures lazily. Of course if they get the mission he thinks they are getting then he is obviously and blatantly lying. Not that Iruka knows that.

  "Okay Kakashi. Anything in particular in mind?" The Sandaime asks.

"I think an escort should do. Not to far from Konoha and with low battle rate." Kakashi muses, and Hiruzen pulls out a scroll from the top of a pile. 

 "I guess you and your team are in luck. We just got this mission request from a bridge builder from the Land of Waves." Of course he would give that mission. Kakashi had nearly forgotten that Naruto had told the Third of their future status.

  "We'll take it." Kakashi and Naruto say. In stumbles in a highly drunk Tazuna. He looks at the team. "This is my protection?" He slurs. "A beauty queen, am emo, a scarecrow, and a blond idiot?"

 Naruto is silently laughing at the looks on his teams faces. "Well, Tazuna-san. I will have you know I'm the future Hokage! And Sasuke will be my ANBU captain and Sakura my head medic! So yeah, ya got some pretty shitty protection all right! Not to mention Scarecrow is an elite Jounin!" He exclaims.

  Tazuna eyes widen slightly before he laughs. "You? A brat like you, Hokage. Eh, whatever. I'm the super master bridge builder an' I 'xpect y'all to get me home safe!" He stumbles out of the room, chugging down his sake.

Kakashi turns to his team. "Pack enough for about a months trip. The Land of Waves is around three days civilian pace. Meet at the Eastern gate at eight am sharp!" He orders and the three genin say "Hai sensei!" Before they flashed away, leaving a pink hair, raven hair and blond hair in their wake.

  Early the next morning they set out. They walked in diamond formation, Kakashi in front Naruto on the left flank and Sakura on the right, Sasuke tailing for support. Tazuna was eyeing them. "Y'all are a quiet bunch aren't ya?" He asks. 

  "Silence is a weapon to be wielded by all Shinobi." Was all that was returned by the dark Uchiha.

Naruto looked at Tazuna. "Eh what the hell. So old man Tazuna, what is Wave like?" He asks.

  "It's beautiful. There are many trees and flowers. The sea glitters under the sun and when it sets, it throws the most beautiful colors across the sky." He says. 

  It's been about three or four hours, when we spot a puddle. We share a glance and that's all we need. Kakashi falls back 'absorbed' in his Icha Icha. As we pass by Tazuna leans forward so only Naruto and Kakashi hears. "I trust the Shadows to protect the Light." He murmured and Naruto grins. 

 "We are the Shadows who protect the Light, the Leaf and her allies. We will not waver in our steps to His destruction." Naruto whispers back and Kakashi nods discreetly.

 Then the puddle explode, chains wrapping around Kakashi, and Naruto waits in anticipation.

AN/: okay. So Sakura and Sasuke don't have their memories, Naruto and Kakashi have just been training them okay? I need a cover for this story if anyone wants to make me one that would be great! If not well, no harm done!
