Chapter 4

  Naruto shot up at the familiar voice. He had been so consumed by his emotions that he hadn't sensed the newcomer.

Turning around Naruto gasped and reeled back in shock. Because right there standing in front of him was the entire reason he came back from the future.

Sarutobi, seeing that Naruto was not responding said to Kakashi," How much did you hear?"

"Only the end Hokage-sama. So this boy is from the future?" Kakashi asked.

"Yes he is." Sarutobi said nodding. Then he scolded. "You should not have eavesdropped!"

Kakashi bowed his head, embarrassed.

Meanwhile Naruto was repeatedly seeing the silver-haired mans death. He clutched his head gasping tears rolling down his cheeks. He backed up until his back hit the wall and slid down.

Silver.

Sarutobi rushed over Kakashi not a step behind.

"Kitsune-kun? Kitsune! Snap out of it!" Sarutobi used kitsune as a codename so Kakashi did not find out who this was.

Naruto could not hear him, to caught up in the flashbacks.

Blood. A smile.

A Face. blood. Kakashis blood.

Oh gods he's dead.

"Kitsune! Come on say something!" Sarutobi pleaded. Naruto remained unresponsive. Sarutobi stood there helplessly knowing no medic could heal this.

Suddenly Naruto started talking. "He died for me. He bled for me!"

Sarutobi sighed. "Who kitsune-kun? Who died for you."

"T-t-the l-last to d-die before I came b-back."

"Who?" Kakashi asked, feeling lost at how broken his this boy bearing much resemblance to his sensei was.

Naruto stared straight at him face falling into a grateful yet regretful expression full of sorrow and guilt. "You." he said.

Kakashi stood there shocked. He had died and it affected this boy so much? "We don't know each other so why did my death affect you so much?"

Naruto took a shuddering breath. "You know that you will be picking up your genin team soon right? I was placed to protect Uzumaki Naruto from the shadows. You caught me and I started showing myself. I am known as Kitsune. I have no other name having left it behind when I traveled back. We became friends and fought together in the war." Until you died was left unsaid.

Kakashi stared at the young man before him, noticing little details like how Kitsunes hair swayed gently from the breeze blowing through the window and how his eyes sparkled in the light occasionally flashing red. He could not help but feel amazed at how this blond haired young man could still smile after being so broken.

Sarutobi cleared his throat. Kakashi blinked, and then noticed Kitsunes amused expression. He scowled under his mask which seemed to make KItsunes amusement grow. It seemed, for now at least, all of kitsunes grief had been pushed aside.

"Kakashi, If I am correct, you have a genin team to collect and is already two hours late."

Kakashi gave the Sandaime one of his famous eye smiles. "Maa, it teaches them patience." he said before vanishing in a swirl of leaves.
Naruto reactivated his henge. "I had better go too. See ya jiji." and with that Naruto was gone in a yellow flash.

Sarutobi stood there shock on his face. After a moment he shook his head and chuckled. He really is your son Minato.

AN// okay so Kakashi does not know that kitsune is Naruto and yes Naruto knows the hiraishin
