"What no! Addison I hate prom with passion so why would I wanna go?" I looked at her as if she was crazy.
"Because you've only been here a week and there's so many guys that wanna go with you so take prom as a good opportunity to get yourself someone."

I shook my head again at her.
"But I heard that cute guy from our science class likes you and-"
"And I don't like him. Sorry Addison but I don't like prom." I shrugged.

I started walking before she could say anything else to me.
"Okay fine! But you're gonna be the only one not going! And you're gonna be lonely for the rest of your life!" She yelled from a far but I didn't give two fucks to turn around.

Little did I know, that was exactly what was gonna happen.

"You're gonna be lonely for the rest of your life" Them words replayed in my head, I didn't think of it as anything at the time. Now I do.

Bell rings.
Everyone barged past each other through the door when school was over.
Even the teachers were gone.

I turned my head and I saw Aidan sitting at the back at his desk.
"Why're you still here?" I asked him.
He didn't respond back but glare at me.

I fully turned my body and looked at him in the eyes.
"Have I done something to annoy you? Cuz right now you're giving me the look as if I've just pissed in your cereal this morning" I snapped at him.
A chuckle escaped his lips.

"No it's just what you and the rest of the school have done." He answered back.
I gave a confused look "What do you mean? I've only been here for a week and I hardly know you."

"Exactly. You hardly know me but I know you think I'm a bad guy, that's why you get nervous around me, don't you?" He stared at me for a minute and I pursed my lips.
Okay can this guy read my mind?

I didn't respond back and Aidan just chuckled because he knew he was speaking the truth.

I took a look at him and he was tapping his foot on the floor and his black hoodie that he was wearing.
The hoodie looked big on him but I didn't know if the hoodie was hiding him or his secrets.

I grabbed my bag from behind my chair and I walked straight out of the classroom.
When I stopped at the door, I turned around to face him. We both looked at each other for a few seconds until it was me who broke eye contact.

I carried on walking through the empty hallway and when I stepped outside the school, I took a deep breath.

My mind couldn't go off Aidan. He made my heart race, he made me nervous?
Why?

HALF AN HOUR LATER—

Finally I reached home and I saw my Dad making dinner.
The oven was on and I could smell something burning.

"Dad something's burning." I covered my nose with my hand and his eyes widened.
"Oh shi-" He ran to the oven and when he opened it, the entire kitchen filled with smoke.

He quickly grabbed the pan but then realised it was blazing hot.
"OW!" Dad yelled, dropping the pan on the counter top.

He held onto his hand and rinsed it under the sink with cold water.
I couldn't help but laugh a little and when he heard me laugh, he turned around and glared at me.

"A little help here." He said in an annoyed way.
"Sorry." I stopped laughing and I helped him move all the pots and pans out of the way and I turned the oven off.

"What did you do this time?" I sat down on the stool.
He stood at the other side of the counter and sighed. "I kinda pissed off your mom at breakfast this morning and now I have to make her forgive me so my life isn't complete hell."

"And you making burnt salmon is gonna make her forgive you?" I raised my eyebrow.
He softly smiled "Well it's the thought that counts."

I giggled.

Dad went back to washing the dishes and my mind went back to earlier.

"Dad?"
"Yeah?" He looked over his shoulder at me.

"I need some advice." I said and he thought about it for a second.
"Okay I'll go and get your mother-"

"No. I mean I need your advice." I stopped him.
"Oh." He sounded shocked.

Dad sat down next to me and he waited for me to say something.

"Was high school always hard for you?" I asked him.
"Ugh don't get me started on high school." He rolled his eyes.

"It's a place filled with narcissistic teenagers, thinking that they're all so cool just because of either Instagram followers, how much money they have or how many people have had sex with who. When I was there I hated everyone, If your Uncle Grayson wasn't my twin brother I'd probably hate him too."

I laughed "Facts."

"But I'm not gonna say too much because I did mess up a lot when I was in high school. Your mom too."
"Why What happened?" I asked him.

"I was a drug addict, she didn't give a damn about her life. We were both pretty messed up. Did you know we both met in the bushes?-"
"Woah! Too much info." I covered my ears.

"Oh no no, it wasn't like that. Your mom was at a party and I never used to go home so I would stay out late and she saw me from a far when I was hiding behind a bush."
"Ohh."

"Did you ever think you would end up with mom when you were in high school?" I asked him.
He chuckled "I didn't even know I'd live past high school, I never gave the future a thought. I either thought I would end up in prison before I hit age 20 or carry on doing drugs."

I looked at him "I wanna make a change, I wanna help change someone's life ."
I said referring to Aidan.

Dad smiled at me "Good. And I hope you do make a change to someone's life."

I nodded.
I got up from the stool and I grabbed my jacket from the rack, heading out the door straight after.

And like that I had a plan in my mind. I started walking in the cold, finding something that could help me.

I wanted to change someone's life but little did I know, that could've meant anything.
