Chapter 10

Aden held his forehead as they continued on their way. They were nearing the end of the Flower Kingdom and would soon be able to teleport over to the Heart Kingdom. There, Valen would hopefully have some news on what is going on.

The pain in his head was beginning to calm down. He never felt it act up before like that unless he was urging it to for the purpose of unleashing his powers. Now, it seemed like all it did was ache.

Claire walked back with the rest of the group. She could not help but notice that Aden seemed to be in pain. He walked ahead of all of them, as he always did. He acted as if everyone was an inconvenience to him.

She sped up and made her way to his side. He glanced over at her, still holding his forehead and squinting his eyes.

"Are you okay?" Claire asked with genuine concern in her voice.

"I'm fine princess."

Claire placed a hand gently on his shoulder, making him stop. She stood in front of him and grasped his hand within hers. Slowly she pulled his hand off of his forehead. She saw the rose scar looked a bit red and almost like it was a brand new cut.

"What happened?"

"It's not really any of your business anyway so just drop it" Aden snapped, continuing on.

Claire stood there a bit stunned. She sighed and tried to brush it off. He was like that with everyone so why should she let it bother her?

"Some people just can't appreciate someone who is just trying to help them" Adara said loudly, purposely so Aden would hear her.

"And some people have no concept of when they should just keep their nose out of other people's business."

Adara growled, her face tensing up. Claire placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled. Adara nodded, knowing that Claire just wanted to ignore it.

Aden cringed. His scar was flaming again. He wondered... Could it be Claire? He never had his scar act up like this before he met her... But why? She was harmless.

Maybe I need to keep my distance... that girl has been making me weak...

"There it is! One step closer to the Mars Kingdom!" Adara exclaimed, pointing ahead.

There was a large black piece of land. The teleportation device out of the Flower Kingdom and over to the Heart Kingdom.

They all stopped as they stood on the black land.

"Join hands everyone and concentrate on getting out of here" Aster said.

Selina reached over and grabbed Aster's hand. He felt his face get warm. Sure, he knew it was only because they needed to hold hands, but the feeling of her reaching out for him made him feel weightless inside.

"As long as I don't have to hold Aden's hand, I'm happy,"

"Oh please you have wanted me since day one" Aden smirked.

"Give me a break! You're a pig!" Adara snapped.

"And you're a spoiled rotten royal brat."

"Really guys?" Selina asked, feeling disappointed.

Adara took Selina's other hand and Claire's. Claire joined her other hand with Aden and Aden joined his with Aster.

The group closed their eyes and concentrated. The outline of the black land lit up and shot up into the air. Wind swirled around them and quickly picked them up into the sky. They felt weightless for a short moment, then their bodies felt heavy again as they were gently placed onto the ground.
