❝ Happy birthday, Cap.  ❞

A smile was already on her face though it barely reached her eyes, the Captain did the same in return but he felt it. That sadness hidden behind those eyes of hers of which usually brightens up everyone's day, now just dimmed the room. He quickly excused himself from his friends as he escorted her out— the balcony was his shot.

❝ You know, if anyone must be sad in here it should be me. I'm on three digits already and they're throwing unnecessary parties, care to elaborate how yours are worse? ❞ He asked, nudging her to go on as she shook her head.

Sighing out,  ❝ Complicated feelings. ❞

That's dangerous, you have a fiancé. ❞

❝ I know, ❞ She said, looking down in shame. She have never felt so humiliated in her life, and the Captain was the first to find out of her frustrations. She then placed her hands on her face, burrowing it deeper as she wished for the ground to open up and hopefully bury her.

The Captain sighed,  ❝ You know what, I'm going to make it easy for you. No need for discussions of what I think is right but I'm going to tell you of how majority thinks of how things should be. If you'd have to pick, pick the first one still. You have fallen out of love because of disconnection, you fall in love too fast and you'd probably not work if you'd choose Tony.

That is not how Love works, Hope. Love never defines no matter how thick or thin you are, for the richest or the poor. It finds a way to never give up, and that's love— unless you have discovered love with Tony for only three months, then I don't know. . Things should. . Never be taken so fast. ❞

With a pat on her back, the Captain left and returned to meeting incoming guests. Looking down on her phone when it buzzed, a frown settled on her lips when she read it.

I like you. ❞

Sighing out, she looked back inside to see him right outside the glass separating the balcony. Tapping her answer, she looked at him apologetically.

I'm sorry. ❞
