Chapter 5

I made it into my first class 5 minutes early and went to my seat, some people were also in their seats already. I wasn't really excited for chemistry, but I could feel that I was happier today...Like REALLY happy. Which was kind of weirding me out. Before I could continue to be weirded out the door opened and more students started to pile in, two being my good friends.

"Hey Siska! You're looking nice today" Adam said, as he took his normal seat next to me.

"Thanks, you're looking great as always!"

"Of course!"

His shy mate took a seat next to him.

"Hey Steve! Quiet as usual I see"

"I'm just tired" He said, while yawning to prove his point.

"Aww, my poor baby" Adam said teasingly while patting his mate's back. Steve started beaming red as he playfully hits Adam's hand away.

I was silently chuckling while watching their interaction. Adam is my best friend. Or I guess my second, because Cole likes to say he's my number one best friend. Because of this, Adam is also the future Delta, the third in command in the pack when I become Alpha. The closest and most trusted people to the future Alpha are always pick by the next Alpha in line. Sure, Cole kind of picked himself, but I picked Adam. He has been by my side since we were in kindergarten, and knows me better than most people...except Cole of course.

"You can take a nap on me babe, it's just chem. Everyone sleeps in this class" Adam suggested to Steve.

"No way! Unlike you I actually like chemistry! I'm not missing a second"

"Fine weirdo" Adam said laughing.

Sometimes I find myself jealous when I look at them. Or anyone who has a mate really. Adam was 11 when he found out Steve was his mate, and they've been together since. I'm happy for my best bud, but when you haven't met the person who is meant for you yet, it gets kind of lonely. Like, you're missing a part of yourself. Adam sees my solemn expression and pats my shoulder.

"Don't be sad Sis. You'll meet your mate someday"

I smiled.

"Thanks. But don't call me that"

"What? It's your nickname Sis"

I cringed.

"First of all, it sounds like you're calling me your sister. And secondly, my name is already short, so I don't need a nickname"

"Aww, you don't want to be my sister?"

"Sorry man, but I already have two brothers, I don't need another one" I said laughing lightly.

"Dang it" He said pretending to pout.

A couple minutes after he finally finishes complaining that he'd make a great third brother, the teacher walks in. I liked Mrs. Louis, she teaches chemistry in a way that everyone could understand and she always has so much fun with it. I think she's the only reason I actually come to this class sometimes...Besides the thought of my mom yelling at me for skipping another class other than history.

The class went by smoothly. I was walking to my locker with Adam and Steve, when my phone buzzed in my pocket. I took it out and read the text message.

Dad: They made it to the house. I'm bringing them to the school now, we will be there in 10...OH! And make sure you drag your brother along. Make sure he doesn't run away again.

I groaned and texted an 'okie dokie' back. I guess I'm missing the cheese sticks after all...But! That means I get to miss the rest of school, so I'm happy.

"Hey guys, I have to go find Cole. We're meeting with another pack today"

"Oh yeah! I heard about that. Your dad said I didn't need to go" Adam made a 'HaHa' face at me.

"Well at least I get off school early!" I make the same face back at him, before turning around and going to find Cole. I could hear Adam mumbling as I leave and Steve yelling bye.

When I made it to Cole's locker, he was squatting on the ground looking for something.

"Yo brosiff! Looking for your dignity?!"

I start laughing as he looks up to me with a 'Really' face.

"I dropped my pen"

"Okay? You can use mine or get a new one"

"No, it was my favorite one!" He whines.

"Well, Boo Hoo! Sorry, but dad is on his way with the leaders of the other pack. And we have to go"

He makes a loud groan before getting up.

"I don't wanna"

"Same, but we gotta" I said shrugging.

As we got the rest of our stuff, we headed toward the doors to the front of the school. Walking there, I could feel Soleil jumping and doing flips in my head.

'HEY! Can you stop you're hurting any brain I have!!!'

'OH BOY, OH BOY!!'

I was getting really mad at her, until we open the front door and I smelled it. A strong smell of the ocean breeze, vanilla, and jasmine suddenly hit my nose.
