Chapter 10

I walk into the kitchen pretty scared and nervous to see what my mom needs. As I walk inside I see my mom cooking with about 6 other people from our pack. I can see that they've already made a lot of food, at least 12 big dishes full of different kinds of food. AND THEY'RE STILL MAKING MORE!!!

I think I can feel my mouth watering. I'm broken out of my food daze, when fingers snapping is heard right next to my left ear.

"Ow mom!" I say covering my now slightly hurt ear drum.

"Sorry, not sorry. How else was I supposed to get your attention? You were literally hypnotized by the food"

"Oh I don't know? Maybe tap me on the shoulder? Or Oo, say my name?" I say sarcastically.

"I don't need your sas Missy" She gives me a creepy smile. "What I do need, is for you to get Max up from his nap" She says while turning back to the food she was cooking.

"Okay, which room is he in?" I ask half way through the door.

"He's in the second guest room on this floor"

"Got it!" I say walking down the hall.

To make sure I don't get lost, I look at the map real quick.

'I can't believe you have to look at the map! You know we can use our sense of smell to find our way to Max right?'

'I know Sol, but if you haven't noticed there are a lot of scents going in right now. Food, people, our mate...Food'

'Okay, okay, good point. The food is really distracting'

'Exactly!!! We missed lunch, so I'm starving!'

Me and Sol start to talk about food, which is making my hunger worse, but it's always fun just talking to Sol. When she's not calling me an idiot.

'Oo! Oo! I hope they are making those cream puffs!!! Best dessert of all time!' Sol continues her food rant as I make my way to the second guest room.

"Is he still a sleep?"

I slowly open the door to peak inside. When I get a good look I can see that Max is on the ground quietly babbling to himself.

Looks like he escaped the play pen. I walk in and he turns his head to me and smiles. He also starts talking to me, but I have no idea what he's trying to say.

"Yeah! Wow, I know" I smile and nod along to whatever he's saying. "Okay, yeah that's so cool, but do you know what? I think food is almost ready, you want to eat?"

When I mention food, he instantly nods his head and puts his arms up, probably wanting me to carry him. I pick him up, only to put him on his feet. He hates walking, but kids gotta learn I'm not going to carry him all the time.

"Waaaf aaah nnaaanna"

He's probably complaining in his own little baby language, but he soon gets that I won't pick him up and starts to walk himself.

As we both walk, I hold his little hand guiding him so he doesn't get lost. Sometimes this pack house is so confusing even for me, probably because we don't really live here. We live in a little house a minute or two away for the pack house. Mom wanted our own space, because she knew sooner or later we'd have to move to the pack house with everyone. No one is required to live here, but it's tradition that the Alpha, Beta, and Delta families live here at least. I guess mom just wanted us to herself for a little, because when I'm Alpha I'll probably spend a lot of it in the office like how dad is.

'Responsibility sucks' Sol interrupts my thoughts.

'You can say that again'

Over the summer I had to come in here a lot for my 'Alpha Internship' as my dad called it. It was mostly what an actual internship is... Watching. I watched my dad do his daily Alpha duties. I wasn't really allowed to do anything else, but he said this year I would be more involved and do hands on Alpha stuff, so that's exciting. I like doing more than just watching things happen.

As me and Max enters the kitchen, he spots mom and starts toddler running to her, hugging her leg when he finally gets to her.

"Hi jellybean!" She exclaims happily and puts Maxxie up. She then turns to me with a smile.

"Thank you Siska, now can you find Coleisus? Dinners almost ready and I don't feel like mind linking him right now"

"Sure thing mom"

I sigh and turn to leave the kitchen again. As the oldest you always have to get everyone together. So I guess it's time to look for my other baby brother.
