Just a quick disclaimer that I am not Japanese and I'm not exactly sure when to use "san" after a persons name and stuff so I'm not going to embarrass myself trying. Any suggestions on this fanfic please comment I always love constructive criticism! And now... without further ado... my story!

Song: Wish you were gay by Billie Eillish

KAGEYAMA'S POV
"One more!" I heard behind my head. The ball leaves my fingertips and travels backward until a small, pale palm stops it, changing its direction and adding extra force. This hand belonged to a short, red-haired, exuberant first year at Kurasuno High School, and the middle blocker for the Kurasuno volleyball team. He landed as we both briefly celebrated our now-mastered combo move.

"Hinata! Kageyama! I thought I told you two to take down the net five minutes ago!" A husky smoker voice yelled at us from the gym door.

"Sorry coach Ukai!" We sang in unison, immediately beginning clearing the room.

"The rest of the team is waiting outside for you two!"

"Why?" Hinata asked. Usually they all went their separate ways after practice.

There was no answer, only a sigh and the sound of a lighter.

Once we had finished we walked outside to see the whole volleyball team sitting on the pavement in a circle, making room for us to also sit down.

"It has come to me and Suga's attention" Dachi began, "That we all don't really know each other too well. So, we are organizing some team bonding dates over these next few months so we can all learn a bit more about one another and hang out."

"Awesome!" Nishinoya yelled.

"Question. What if we can't make any of them?" Tsukkishima stated with an amusing look on his face.

"Then you won't play in the next game!" Suga chirped, with a huge genuine smile on his face.

The team exchanged nervous glances with one another.

"Our first hang out sesh will be this Sunday. We'll go to the waterfall and river next to the bike rental place, everyone know where I'm talking about?"

We all nodded our heads.

"Great! See everyone then!"

I walk halfway home with Hinata every practice day cause his house is in the same direction.

"Are you excited for the river?" He said, walking next to me with a bounce in his step.

"Yeah I guess."

"I bet I can make a bigger cannon-ball splash than you."

"Yeah right dumbass."

"Scared?" Hinata mocked.

"In your dreams!" I voiced back.

He smiled and continued walking next to me until we parted ways. I got home and threw my shit on my bed, laying on the floor and thinking. Thinking about school, volleyball, and this Saturday.

I took off my shirt and sprawled out on the hard-wood floor that covered my bedroom, letting the coolness of the smooth surface calm my tensed body. A sigh escaped my mouth, and I closed my eyes. As I opened them and readjusted to the sunlight, a sunspot the shape of the red haired boy appeared.

Wow I didn't know I've been looking at him that much recently. I had to be staring at him pretty frequently for a sunspot of him to appear even when he's not in the room. Well I mean I DID just set him continuously for fifteen minutes straight. But, I guess I do look at him a lot, even when I'm not setting him... Well I talk to him more than anyone else on the team, and you look at people when you talk to them? Yeah.

I sat up to a crisis cross position and grabbed my volleyball. I tossed it up and hit it on the wall across from me, the ball rolling back into my hands. I continued to do this as I thought.

I don't need to read into this, I'm being crazy.

The ball rolled back to my hands and I squeezed my frustration out on it and threw my head back, slamming my head back on the bed frame.

"SHIT!" I yelled. But just what I needed.
