One of Us, One of Us

I blink groggily awake, feeling someone shaking my arm. I turn my head to see the stunning face of my mate smiling at me.

"Hi," I manage to pronounce through my bone dry mouth.

"Good afternoon, you slept through the rest of school," my mate informs me, "It's currently 3:22 and it's time to go to the pack house,"

"But, I have to go home, mom will be worried if I don't go home,"

"Don't worry, I spoke to Jay and he told your mom that you are going home with me so we can study,"

"Oh, really? My mom was just cool with letting me go to a stranger's house for the afternoon?" I ask incredulously, getting up from the gurney.

"Yes, she was. She knows my parents from church,"

"Oh, okay then; where's Nurse Mathews?"

"She's running some errands," Sky tells me.

"Right, well... Um, shall we go?" I ask awkwardly.

Sky nods, smiling, and takes my hand as we walk. She leads me to my locker so I can grab my bag, all the while catching me up on the events of the day.

"Sky! There you are! I've been looking for you, Toby told me you guys are coming back with us," Ruby comes bounding along the corridor, her dark hair flying out behind her.

"Hi, Ruby, sorry, I had to get Devi from the nurse," my mate explains, looking apologetic.

"Oh, why were you at the nurse? Was it from last night? That must suck," Ruby says to me.

"I took to many pain meds thanks for asking," I say, not quite sure how to handle Ruby's honest nature, "Anyway, come on, everyone's waiting!"

With that she bounds off rounding the corner before neither Sky nor myself can say anything.

"Okay, well, that happened," I mutter dryly.

"Yeah, she's... really honest, and just doesn't give two shits. Which is good, 'cause one day she's gonna be Luna, and I want a Luna who will tell it like it is, but... yeah," Sky gushes.

"What's a Luna?" I ask, somewhat baffled.

"A Luna is the female version of the Alpha, they're kinda the mother of the pack," my mate explains.

"Oh, thanks,"

My mate smiles, once again taking my hand as she leads me down the corridor and out into the parking lot.

She pulls me over to the edge of the parking lot where several members of the pack are standing around a neon coloured combi van.

The van's exterior is a neon rainbow, covered in glitter, and generally looking like a unicorn's vomit. It has a black stylized wolf head on the bonnet and some other random symbols on the sides. The sight of it makes me wonder if the person who owns it is high.

"Don't mind the car, Sam painted it," Sky whispers to me as we approach.

"Right..." I mutter.

"Hey! Finally, hop in and let's get this show on the road!" the dark haired wolf in the front of the van calls to us. The door slides open revealing five other pack members crammed onto the neon green seats that line the walls.

We pile in, with Sky and I sitting in the middle of two dudes who look us up and down before smirking at each other.

"Don't bother, we're lesbians," I say blandly to the pervs.

"Oh yeah? Prove it," the one sitting next me challenges.

"Well, you see, last night there was a pack meeting, during which I was whipped and my mate here, came out, so yeah," I tell them, my voice dripping acid.
