Tobias goes white, his eyes widening in genuine fear and I don't blame him. Ruby, while shorter than her mate by about a head, is terrifying to behold.
"I-I-I was just... I mean! Uh..." the future Alpha scrambles to think of something to say.
"You were just what?! Hmm?" the dark haired teen demands not waiting for an answer and instead turning to Sky and I who are just standing there in shock, "Has he been being an arsehole while I wasn't around?"
"Yup, pretty much," I smile, a vengeful part of me wanting to see her tear Tobias apart.
"Is that so?" Ruby asks slowly, "Well then..." she begins to count on her fingers, stopping when she's counted them all.
"Um, sweetie, what are you doing?" Tobias asks sweetly, trying not to enrage her further.
"First of all, Tobias: don't 'sweetie' me, second: I'm counting how many months it will be until you get to even touch me and I don't think I even have enough fingers to figure out how long that will be," Ruby says sharply and I have to bite my tongue to keep from laughing at her sass.
Tobias's face turns from white to red to purple so fast I worry for his health until I remember that I hate his guts.
"Listen here, I'm the Alpha, so you will do as I say, so stop being such a bitch!" the egotistical jerk known as Tobias snaps.
For a moment, there's nothing but stunned silence. Then Ruby pulls back her arm and backhands Tobias across his face.
I let out an incredulous laugh before realizing that now's probably not the time.
"Come find me when you figure out just where you went wrong!" Ruby directs Tobias, her voice caustic, before she pushes him none too gently out the door.
I glance sideways at Sky and find her smiling a small, quiet smile.
Ruby turns back to us, dusting her hands off as though they were dirty, "Right, well that's that taken care of. You tell me if he ever tries to pull a stunt like that again."
"Thanks, that was... Amazingly sassy," Sky says shaking her head in awe.
"It was nothing," Ruby shrugs, "Oh, congratulations on being mates, by the way."
"Thank you, um, yeah," I half mumble, feeling somewhat awkward about the route the conversation was taking.
"Aw, don't be shy! Come on, I'll introduce you to everyone," Ruby grabs my wrist and drags me further into the house. Casting a frantic look at Sky, a silent plea for help, I see her grinning ear to ear. Instead of being a good mate and helping me out, she simply follows behind us as Ruby gives me a whirlwind tour of the place, occasionally stopping to introduce me to various members of the pack.
Eventually we arrive back where we started and I'm about to make an excuse to get out of there when Ruby pulls me outside for some reason. I'm about to ask where we're going when I realize she's taking me to the spot where the meeting was held just before.
Most of the pack is still milling around when the dark haired girl drags me out in front of them.
Oh Gods, this isn't going to be good, my fox remarks and I silently agree.
"Right, so you guys have been total douchebags and I want you to all apologise to Devi and Sky," Ruby instructs the pack with a hard voice.
For a moment there's silence, then a male voice calls from the back, "Why should we?"
Ruby shoots eyes like daggers at the man and there is a collective wince from the pack, "You will because I said so and because it's what's right,"
