Relax

The gentle rustling sounds roused me from my sleep and I lifted my head, only to find that Jinyoung was also doing the same. Immediately squinted when the rays entered the window put my hands above my eyes.

I scanned the whole room and spotted the bag of food Jinyoung's mom bought yesterday. I sighed with disappointment upon realising that I never go the chance to properly thank her and say goodbye.

I saw Jinyoung tried to push himself up so I rushed to his side to provide extra strength but he just waved at me.

"It's okay Daehwi, I'm just a little dizzy."

I immediately poured him a cup of water from the bedside table and offered it to him. He mumbled a weak thank you and smiled at me.

As well as giving him the drink, I also poured one for myself and sat in the chair again. I looked into the clear water of the cup with my two hands grasped around the surface, watching the small ripples dissipate. I felt a sense of peace for a moment. My body felt warm and the bird songs outside really gave out waves of relaxation - I almost didn't want to speak.

"I don't know if you know, but your mom dropped by yesterday." I initiated the conversation.

After taking a small sip of water, I glanced at Jinyoung and he leaned eagerly on the bed towards me.

"You saw my mom!"

With one eyebrow raised in confusion at his change in behaviour I replied "yeah..."

"How? She... she never has time for me..." his head dropped and he retracted his head, sinking slowly into the mattress.

"Well, she came at night while you slept and had to leave because she had work the next morning." I explained. "-But she did buy us some food!" I pointed at the bag which rested at the end of the hospital bed.

I pushed myself out of the chair and made my way to look at the food. There was a range of foods and I picked out two sandwiches for us to and passed one to Jinyoung.

"Thanks." He said as he accepted with two hands.

In a mutual silence, the both of us quietly fed ourselves, probably only listening to the calming noises of nature outside. Although, occasionally there was the sound of clicking from passing nurses and doctors.

Twenty minutes had already passed when we finished breakfast and I picked up our trash and threw it in the bin.

"You seem better than yesterday already. Shall I call a nurse to check you and see if you can leave?" I asked. He nodded with a little mumble which indicated a yes.

I temporarily stepped out of the room to find a nurse but as I walked down the corridor, there's was loud chatter coming from another room which caught my attention.
