the start of summer & the start of loveSEDICI
Marco loves his family but sometimes he just gets so tired.
this Saturday evening, his lively parents invited their big family to come over for a social gathering. Marco shrugged, Harlow complained about not wanting to change out of her nightwear, Teodora groaned in dismay and Vega continued to play cheerily.
so aunties, uncles and cousins ambled into the house. gossip, laughter, racket and chatter filled the air in minutes on a usually serene Saturday.
Marco ended up running away from aunties that wanted to make him babysit their irksome kids. little toddlers that turn the house upside down, throwing remotes and giggling.
ample families are agreeable, caring but too much to handle at times with their social awkwardness. Saturday evenings for Marco usually involved lounging in any room of the house, spending time with his siblings in the garden and reading and writing. but today his plans were sabotaged. however, the long evening provided a perfect distraction from Kyong clouding his thoughts.
Marco is ready to stop thinking about Kyong's hands in his hair, his body underneath him, the stars in his hazel orbs and his beloved lips, now tainted with Marco's admiration but slowly being washed away by the girlfriend that is still present.
Marco's father walks past, handing out drinks to mouthy guests. "play the piano." he proposes with enthusiasm. "provide some entertainment." he pats his sons back with a promising nod.
"oh come on Marc." his mother adds, trying to convince him to play.
Teodora starts to whine. "please please! you haven't played in so long."
Marco glares at his family members, trying to keep the conversation hushed. "i played last week." he states and thinks about when he played the piano on a weekday evening- the sun was high and there were no clouds, he provided him and his family solitude through his tranquil musical tunes. he plays when he wants to and that's it.
"everyone loves it when you play." Harlow uses her hands to emphasise her statement of hidden wonder. as Marco's younger sister, it's hard for her not to get inspired by her brother who's always been good at everything. it's never felt like a competition.
Marco isn't in the mood. "i don't want to." he doesn't mean to sound bitter towards his family who mean no harm but he doesn't want to fake happiness.
Marco's dad sits across from him, stretching out his legs from a wearing day. "you could've gone out with your cousin and the neighbours." he suggests, remembering how he saw a well dressed Nolan earlier that night when he picked up the two male neighbours.
Marco bites the inside of his cheek. "i didn't want to." he really didn't want to force a smile on his face, socialise and watch Kyong act like nothing happened between them. but it turns out Marco had to do that anyway, due to the arrival of his families.
Marco sighs, standing up with shaky limbs, sleepy eyes as he hears the cheer from the family- thrilled to hear him play on a boring night. "thank you Marc!" his mother shouts and his father screams- his voice turning octaves higher. supporting, dressed in blue, Vega claps her dainty hands together which leads to the whole room of members clapping and it makes Marco's cheeks flush in overwhelming embarrassment.
