"Damn it! I thought you said it was a safe house!... Sorry my love I don't know why I was suddenly so angry," I grab his hand and lay my head on his chest.
"She is family, and you seem to enjoy her company. You are caring and love fiercely. So when someone threatens your loved ones, it's normal to lash out a bit." He hooks a finger under my chin and lifts my face to him. "I would be more worried if you were calm." I give my husband a small smile.
"A Vladescu that's so understanding.... I've heard it is an impossible thing," I tease.
"And does my Queen believe everything that she hears?"
"Of course not, if that was the case I wouldn't be here I'd have some boring mundane life without you... I can't imagine it. I can't imagine life with out you." Even though we were joking around, it was true I couldn't imagine my life without Lucius.
Wait... Victor said something... Lucius! I reached out to him with my thoughts finding it easier to do it this way than forming words... Yes I know its lazy, but I was raised in America.
"You're right, he said if she were to leave the safe house he would find her... So as long as she stays there she will be alive and well protected I am sending a few more warriors to protect her... but Victor is a man of his word he will not harm her while she's there. And I dare not send more guards away from the castle, it would be a bad idea to leave what is most precious to me unprotected."
He pulls me in and holds me tight," You, my King, are simply amazing." He pulls away slightly to lean down and press his lips to mine.

Aahh much better. The guard had help me spruce up this dusty rat hole.
"Thank you, Kam you didn't have to do this. I feel horrible for you doing things out of your..."
"My job description? It's quite alright, I really don't mind. Plus my queen instructed me to make sure you had everything you needed and were comfortable. So technically this is part of my job," he smile shyly. Kam isn't as cold as the other warriors here, but that does not make him soft by any means. He is stealthy and very deadly with a stake.

"Is there anything else you need Duchess?"
"No, thank you. Kam... actually will you be one of my guards that are posted inside?" I definitely feel more comfortable with him hidden in the shadows as my silent guardian, than one of these bulky elephants trampling about.
"As you wish." Kam bows his head, before finding a corner of the room to plant himself in.
