Jinae sat in the silence for a few moments. Mr. Nam had shared something so personal that she couldn't help but be affected by it. She was sorry that he'd faced so much pain in his life, but she was happy he'd found someone who helped relieve the burden. His revelation about Yoongi was confusing in the least. Was there really something else in his eyes for her? Was that what she'd been noticing? Could she really share her thoughts with him freely?
Jinae sighed as she stood and stretched, her slippers hitting the hardwood with a light smack. She headed down the hallway to the bedroom Yoongi had put her suitcase in. It was small like the rest of the home but cozy. She walked in and closed the door, changing into a pair of fuzzy pajama pants decorated with small blue penguins and a sweatshirt. She grabbed her toothbrush and left the room hoping Yoongi would be out of the bathroom.
She bumped right into Yoongi as she rounded the corner of her room's doorframe.
"Sorry Yoongi, I didn't see you, " Jinae stumbled over her words because of her surprise, stepping back to look up at her clumsiness' victim. She was taken aback by his appearance and ended up edging just a few more tiny steps away. He seemed to have just finished his shower. He wore sweatpants and a loose long-sleeved shirt, showing off his lean, slightly muscled frame. His hair was wet and tousled as if he'd just dried it. She didn't know why his simple appearance seemed so attractive to her, but it did. Her mind jumped briefly to the movie scenes where the attractive lead came into a room of the shower and ran out of a rainstorm.
Yoongi looked just like that.
"It's fine. I was just coming to check on you, actually. I didn't find you on the couch or on the balcony, so I thought I'd look here." Jinae didn't know if she was just hyperaware because of Mr. Nam's words, but she thought that maybe Yoongi was a little more shy than usual with his hands in his pocket and his less than perfect eye contact.
"Oh yeah, I woke up, " Jinae felt awkward standing there with him now. Part of her wanted to tell him she'd had another nightmare, but the other part told her not to worry him. It was another silent but intense battle hidden in the deepest part of Jinae's mind, but not for the first time, Yoongi took care of the deliberation for her.
"Any nightmares?" He spoke softly, and his eyes carried the same genuine care that his tone did.
"Yeah," she admitted this reluctantly, but more quickly than she had thought possible. She wondered if Mr. Nam had hesitated with his wife at first; if he'd felt this compulsion to speak them. Yoongi nodded in response, his expression still soft.
"Would it help to talk about it?" Jinae began to say no, but then she remembered Mr. Nam's story and advice. She trusted him, and if he thought this would work, she would at least try it.
"Yeah, it might." Jinae turned around and went to her bed, but change her mind. "Ciul we maybe sit on the balcony? I know it's cold but I just thought the stars may look brighter here." Yoongi go smiled at her.
"That sounds lovely. I'll get my coat."

A few moments later, they were sitting in their coats and boots on the balcony chairs. For a moment the two were silent, just basking in the scene around them. It was freezing, or just below, but the night was still. The sky was clear of cloud and Jinae was struck by how clear the galaxy seemed to show. The moon was just a crescent but illuminated the pure white snow on the ground and trees below. The mountains rose up jagged and tall in the backdrop. The most breathtaking part was the stars though. The luminous lights Jinae couldn't see well in the city's smog were so clear here. The constellations she'd learned in high school astronomy were all there, and she counted all she could. She felt so small here under the night sky, but she also felt safe in the beauty. Safe enough to finally reveal the images that had haunted her for the past weeks.
