Kaitlin was able to make it to the couch and curl up under a blanket. The soft layer didn't do much to provide a warmth to her. Being a spirit did not have any perks at all. After Jack left, she didn't know what to do or think of. She was discovered. That was all that mattered to her at the moment. What was going to happen now? To her or Toby?
Around the eleven o' clock mark, she finally heard the familiar sound of Toby's car pull into the driveway. Lights blared into the dark room of the basement, casting a shadow on the wall of some furniture. The lights soon turned off and the engine was cut off also. A car door slammed and the footsteps of Toby entering the house seemed to echo off the walls.
The toilet paper was still draped all of the equipment and furniture in the basement. Katie didn't seem to have the strength to get up and tear them down. Her own thoughts consumed her like bear eating its morning meal. She was defenseless to the outside world.
Upstairs, everything seemed to have gone quiet. Toby must have stopped in his tracks and stared at the damage Jack has caused around the house. Jack. He did this. He was ruining most of this and the thing is...he didn't even realize it himself.
Finally, small footsteps started to trample down the basement stairs and stopped at the bottom. Katie stayed invisible and kept under the blanket on the couch. She didn't dare move. Feeling his presence in the room made goosebumps form on her skin. Goosebumps! Now that was new, but there didn't seem to be any time to focus on that. Just at the task at hand.
"Katie..." A voice called out softly into the dark and empty room. Well, people empty. Everything was still littered with paper.
Kaitlin stayed still and quiet, a small tear wanting to fall down her cold and pale cheek.
"Katie...please come out. We need to talk. Come on. I'm not angry," he assured her, still speaking quietly. His voice was the only thing that seemed to break the walls in her mind and urge her to come out of her hiding. Slowly, Katie stood up and walked over to Toby. She turned off her invisibility and looked at him. He wasn't even startled, he just stared back into her eyes.
"Katie.." he repeated again, the name rolling off his tongue with ease and comfort. Toby wanted nothing more than to wrap his arms around her and hold her close, to tell her that everything would be alright soon. In all reality, he wasn't so sure of that.
Kaitlin looked back into his hazel eyes and let out a small sigh. "I know," she said quietly, her voice sending Toby a cool breeze. "I saw him and he saw me...I couldn't...I couldn't do anything..." she told him.
Toby shook his head and placed his hands on her cold shoulders. It looked as if his hands could slip through instantly, but they remained on her shoulders and gave her a warm feelings.
"Katie, it's alright. I confronted him about it and told him not to upload it. It will be fine," he reassured her, nodding at his own words.
Kaitlin wanted to believe him, but the small feeling she was getting in her gut told her otherwise. None of this was going to be alright.
"Toby, I know you believe that, but in all honesty, nothing may be alright. How are you so sure of this?" she asked him, shifting under his arms and looking abck into his eyes. Toby gave her a small smile and rubbed his thumbs softly over her skin.
"Because I'm Toby, and I believe things will be better. Believe me for tonight?" he asked her, tilting his head to the side of bit. For a while, Katie didn't answer him. In those few moments of silence, Toby just studied her facial features and how she looked at him. It seemed to give him a tingly feeling inside.
"Yeah..Yeah I will," Kaitlin replied finally, a small smile etching across her pale and chapped lips. Toby grinned down at her and gave her shoulders a gently squeeze.
"Thank you," he said. "Now, what do you say we clean all this stuff up?" Toby asked. Kaitlin nodded and pulled away from him. Where his hands were was a nice warm feeling. It was like he placed a mark on her and gave a lot more courage than before. Toby really was a sense of life.
"How about I clean the upstairs and you clean down here? I'll bring down a trash bag to put it all in," Toby suggested, flicking on a light and illuminating the room.
"Sure, I'll do that," Katie replied, walking over to the bookshelf and already taking off a long strand of toilet paper. Toby laughed loudly and started running up the stairs to start his end.
Katie worked around the room, taking off the toilet paper lengths here and there and just putting it all on the couch. Finally, she made it to his computer area and started taking off all of the toilet paper there. Her hand brushed against the computer mouse and the computer lit up, the town news page making the screen bright up.
Kaitlin ignored it and continued to work for a while there. After cleaning the entire room and a massive pile of white toilet paper on the couch, Kaitlin walked over to his desk to go turn off his computer. She stopped for a moment and scanned the headline. Then...her face just fell.
If she had a heart or any feelings, her heart would of dropped and she would have gone even more paler than she already is. Katie stumbled back away from the computer, her eyes still transfixed onto the screen.

That's when Toby's feet started coming down the stairs and came up behind Katie.
"Katie..? Katie, what's wrong?" He asked quickly, seeing her completely still and staring at his screen. Toby walked over and looked down at the headline. Her went pale and shook his head.
"No, no, no, no...." he kept mumbling to himself, trying not to believe what he was seeing.
Jack really did upload the video.
