A feeling of coolness washed over Toby, causing him to scrunch up his nose and shift just slightly. With the shift, he was reminded he was still in his computer seat. A soft groan came from his mouth and he opened his eyes. Another face popped up in front of his own, and he jumped up from his seat, almost falling onto his arse.
"Ahh!" Toby screamed, regaining his composure and sitting back down, realizing it was only Katie.
"Dear, God," he said quietly, putting his right hand over his own heart.
"Almost gave me a heart attack, Katie!" She giggled and stepped back from him, looking at him smirking.
"Sorry, Toby. You just looked so peaceful." Those words cause his heart to jump a little, then he cleared his throat.
"I did? Oh, ahem, that's nice," he said kind of awkwardly, standing up and pushing in his chair.
"Can we do something, Toby?" Katie asked, looking at him. "It's just....I haven't had contact with anyone in years, so, I kind of need something."
Toby nodded and smiled down at her. "Yeah, of course!" He said, "what would you like to do?"
Katie put her hand to her chin and thought for a moment. "Maybe a card game?" Katie walked over to a cupboard in the corner of the room and opened it up, browsing the games inside.
Toby nodded, to himself mostly, and walked over with her. "Yeah, I can do that with you if you would like." Katie nodded and grabbed the card game, UNO.
Though, when she grabbed the game, it turned as pale as she did. Almost as if it had gone ghostly too.
"Do...do things do that when you touch them?" Toby asked, looking at the card game quizzically.
Katie nodded and went over into the middle of the room, sitting down and pulling out the card, shuffling them. Toby crawled over and sat in front of her, criss-crossing his legs.
"Yeah, usually happens when I pick things up," Katie replied, shuffling the deck a couple more times. "The only thing that my hand slips through is the latch on the window though." Katie turned around and looked at the open window, wondering why it was only that object that let her hand fall through.
"Hmm," Toby said, catching Katie's attention again. "Maybe we will find out one day." He smiled at her and Katie set out the cards, seven cards each player.
Then the game began. Katie was taking the lead, with fewer cards than Toby, who was getting slightly frustrated, but kept the mood light.
"Cheater..." He mumbled under his breath, placing down a 'pick up four cards' card. Katie sighed and did exactly as the card said.
"Am not," she replied, putting down her own card. "I just know how to play." A small smirk came across her face as she said the word, "UNO!" Katie has one card left.
Toby looked at the card and scowled lightly. "Well, I see this has taken a turn for the worse..." He said quietly picking up another card. With that, Katie placed down her last card and smiled at Toby.
"I win!" Katie exclaimed, grinning at Toby. Toby sighed and placed his cards down sighing.
"Alright...Alright....You win," he replied solemnly, smirking just a little at his cards.
"Can we play again?" Katie asked, grinning at Toby. The Turner groaned and laughed to himself.
"Alright! It's on!"
