*Toby's P.O.V*

As I turned around in my spinny chair, I saw her. Or what I thought I saw. There was a girl, or a ghost of a girl, on my egg chair sleeping. I wasn't sure if I should believe it or not. I stood up slowly and walked towards the chair, standing in front of it and staring down at her. She had brown hair, looked about 5'2, and looked beautiful.

I slowly bent down and put my hand out, as if to feel her. I wanted to see if my hand could go through her, maybe I was dreaming. The thing is, I remember waking up this morning, so I couldn't be dreaming.

I stood there staring at her. What do I do? Suddenly, she started moving. I turned around and went to my computer, pretending I was working. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her get up and stretch. She looked over to my computer screen and I quickly averted my eyes.

She shrugged, turned, and walked to the small window in the back of the room. She put her arms on the window sill and rested her head on them.

What's wrong with her? I've learned to accept the fact that she is a spirit, but that doesn't stop me from wondering. Could this really, really, be real? Could spirits and ghosts actually...be here on earth? I shrugged and kept looking at the corner of my screen staring at her.

She was beautiful. She had wonderful brown hair. She wore a red top and a black skirt, but they seemed tattered. I smiled sadly, then I got up and walked up behind her. She didn't notice me thankfully. Finally, I got the urge to speak up.

"H-hello?" I ask silently. She turned around quickly, with wide eyes. She looked behind her out the window, but with no avail for another life form. Then, turning her head back to me, she pointed to herself.

"Are- Are you talking to me?" She whispered. Looking at her more closely now, I realized how pale she looked, and, she seemed a bit transparent. I slowly nod.

"Well, you are the only one here."  I reply, smirking a bit. She looked down, then back up at me. "So...you can see me? And hear me?" She asks. I nod once more.

"Am I not supposed to?" She shook her head. She put her right hand over her left arm and looked down.

"Are you okay? Do you need anything?" I tried asking her. She shook her head once again. I sighed and looked around. "Come here."

I led her to the chair she was on earlier and sat her down. I brought up my computer and sat in front of her. It took some time for either of us to speak up. Finally, I broke the silence. "W-Why don't you tell me about yourself?"

She looked down again, then looked back up to me. She nodded and shifted herself on the chair. "Okay," she said in barely a whisper. Then she started, "My name is Kaitlin Moore, but I prefer Katie..." She was saying. Then, she suddenly stopped. I was a bit confused though.

"Something's holding you back. I have a couple of questions myself, but, whatever is the matter, you can tell me. I'm trustworthy. Believe me." I put my hand on her leg. It was cold, so cold. She seemed to get even paler when I touched her too. "Katie?" I asked looking at her in the eyes.

She sighed and just came out with it. "I can fully trust you. Right?" I nod. She sits up. "I'm a spirit." Looking down, she was twiddling her thumbs. Katie probably expects me to freak out and walk away, or both. I lean back in my chair and try to process what she said. A spirit? They aren't real though! I rub my face with my hands and close my eyes for a second. I open them and smile. "Okay, I believe you. I'm not going to freak out either." She looks up astonished.

"Really!? You mean that!?" She was getting all jittery on the chair. I laugh and smile. "Yes! You have to be more open to me later on though. We just got through one stage. Let's wait a while for the next one." She smiles and jumps off her chair to hug me.

"Thank you, Toby. Thank you, so so much." She mumbles into my neck. I seemed shocked at first, but hugged her tightly back. "You're welcome, Katie."

She gets off and we both stand up, more freely this time. "Now! Let's play some video games!" I exclaim clapping my hands.
