All these years, she had kept herself strong, reminding herself the pain her family had given her. And she had been successful. But looking at that one picture, all her strength crumpled. She loved Sapna, like her own sister. Apart from that, they were childhood friends. Torn between love and hate, she once again looked at the photo...
"Let's move inside your flat. You can talk to her comfortably there," Aryan whispered. Meera nodded. They went inside her flat. Aryan gave a missed call to Sapna and messaged her to video call. "She will call back as soon as she is free and alone." Meera nodded. She was unable to speak. There were lot of thoughts running in her mind. She was excited to talk to Sapna and was also anxious about her reaction. What would she say? What if she wants me to come back? What if anyone else comes to know?
While she was busy contemplating, Sapna called Aryan. Taking the phone from him, Meera walked towards her room and locked herself inside. She answered the call. As Sapna's face appeared on the screen, tears escaped her eyes. "Meera, how are you?" asked Sapna. Tears were flowing down her eyes too. Meera nodded her head and asked, "How are you?" "I am good, Meeru baby." Meera chuckled. She tried to ask about her family members but Sapna stopped her. "No need to do that formality, Meera. I know you don't want to know about them." "Why do you know me so well, Dream?" Meera asked (Sapna means Dream). Sapna chuckled and said, "Because I am your best friend first and your sister-in-law later." Meera smiled. And then both the friends were busy talking about the recent developments in their life.
One Hour Later
"I need to go Meeru baby. But before that, give Aryan a chance, Meera," Sapna said. Meera shook her head in no. Sapna smiled and said, "You are still the hot headed girl I knew. I am not telling you to forgive. Be as much as angry as you want but allow him to earn your forgiveness, Meera. He deserves it. I know he has hurt you a lot. But still. You know, he had taken your letter very seriously. He had done everything to help me. My one call and he would do whatever I said. Give him a chance, Meera. Just one chance." Meera looked at the sincerity in Sapna's eyes. "Okay Sapna. But just for you." Sapna smiled. They cut the call and Meera moved outside the room.
Aryan was sitting on the floor, holding his knees close to him. As he saw Meera coming out of the room, he got up. Meera observed his face carefully. She could see pain and anxiety in his eyes. She handed over his phone to him and sat down in front of him. "So you want one chance?" she spoke, trying to sound arrogant. Aryan nodded. "Fine. You can stay here." Aryan's eyes filled with happiness. Meera continued, "But I have a condition." Aryan looked at her, questioningly. "You will have to live here, not as my husband, but as my servant. Choice is yours," declared Meera.
Aryan looked at her aghast. Was this his Meera? His sweet and innocent Meera? He stared at her face. She was not joking. She meant each and every word of what she said. Meera smiled at his reaction. You have hurt me a lot, Aryan. Now it's my turn. She got up and walked towards her room. Remembering something, she turned around and said, "I am on leave today. So, I am going to sleep. If you are planning to stay, make sure to prepare a heavy lunch for me by 2 PM." And she locked herself inside the room.
She laid down in the bed. Her chat with Sapna had awakened those old remembered how they used to play in their childhood, how they grew up together as best friends and soul sisters. And then she remembered that day.
Flashback (Eight years ago)
"Care to explain?" asked an angry Meera. In front of her stood her brother, Rajat, and her best friend Sapna. "You both have been kissing. In my room. Care to explain?" asked Meera again.
Rajat spoke, "I love her Meeru baby and she loves me too." Sapna nodded. Meera got all excited. Her anger disappeared and she asked them, "You both want to get married?" They nodded.
Meera jumped in joy. "Yayyy! Don't worry, I will help you Rajat Bhai and Sapna Bhabhi." Sapna blushed as Meera pulled them into a hug.
Flashback ends
Meera chuckled as she remembered her excitement after knowing their love story. She was lost in her thoughts and did not realise when she fell asleep.
