"I am on leave today. So, I am going to sleep. If you are planning to stay, make sure to prepare a heavy lunch for me by 2 PM." Saying so, Meera left the room. Aryan stare at the place she stood seconds ago. Was this his Meera? The same Meera who never spoke arrogantly or rudely? The same Meera who respected their relation and made efforts for it? She wants her husband to live like her servant? I do deserve this but.....

His thoughts were interrupted by a phone call. He answered it and spoke, "Dhruv, help me dude." "What did you do now?" asked his friend. Aryan feigned anger, "Why do you think I have done something?" "Alright stop behaving like a drama queen and tell me what happened?" asked Dhruv. "She is angry," replied Aryan sadly. "So what did you think, she will welcome you with open arms?"

Aryan sighed. "No. But she is very much in anger. She said she hates me, Dhruv. She said she wants to stay away from me. Although Sapna has convinced her." Dhruv chuckled, "She hates you, wants to be away from you and then got convinced. Wowww! Are you an idiot? Of course you are but this big one? She is angry but she does not hate you yet. Try to win her back." "She wants me to live with her....as her servant," and Aryan recounted the earlier events.

After listening to everything, Dhruv questioned, "Do you know what she likes to eat? Or do you want me to find that out?" "Of course, I know what she likes. It's not that Dhruv. She doesn't have an induction cooktop. That means I have to cook on stove and you know....." Aryan's voice wavered. Dhruv knew where this was leading to. But he did not want Aryan to think that. He said, "You have done that before, Aryan and you can do that again. Don't think about that. Think about Meera. You are doing this for her.

Aryan smiled at the thought of Meera. "You do know how to make me do something," he chuckled. "Yes. I do. Now listen. If she is planning to treat you like her servant then she will behave rudely, she will try to anger you. Don't lose your patience. She has all the right to be angry. And," Dhruv paused. He wondered if he should tell this to his friend. He decided against it. "And take care. Of her and yourself." Aryan replied in affirmative. They bid bye and Aryan pondered on what he should cook for his wife.

Two hours later

Meera came out of her room to be greeted by the aroma of eggplant and parathas. Involuntarily, she licked her lips and moved towards the dining area. Aryan had laid down the table and was waiting for her. She sat down and he served it to her. As she kept a morsel in her mouth, a moan escaped her lips. It had been ages, she had had such delicious food. She continued eating happily.

Seeing Meera relish his hand-cooked food, Aryan's happiness knew no bounds. He smiled looking at her. But his gaze made Meera conscious. She made her face stern and said, "Since you have decided to stay, I will pay you ₹2000 per month along with food and shelter. This should be enough for you. And of course, no holidays." Saying so, she once again resumed eating.

Aryan stifled a laugh as he heard her. She had carried out the pretence to looke stern well but the way she was enjoying the food made her look like a child. A small child who, after accepting the gifts, wanted everyone to know that she was still angry.

You are a baby, my baby and I promise to take care of you similarly.
