Fifteen minutes before class ended, I spotted Kiyana, she was standing in front of her class door, her fingers tightened around the strap of her bag then she stepped away from the door.
She looked over at her school bag then headed towards the school's front door. I raised my hand and asked for a toilet break. I stepped out into the hallway, there was no sign of Kiyana. I quickened my pace and walked towards the front door, I opened it to find Kiyana walking towards her car.
"Kiyana wait!" I yelled. She looked back then stopped. I jogged up to her and put my left foot forward to stop myself. "What's up, why haven't you been in school?"
"What's up? What's up is I don't have any money to come to school Neveah and Davis doesn't like the idea of us going to a group home, I want to continue school but I can't leave Davis."
I fell silent for a while. "So where are you gonna stay now?" "I'm thinking of getting a job so Davis can still go to school, but he insists that he's the brother and he's meant to take care of me but I just can't put any more stress on him." she replied sadly.
I ignored the fact that she ignored my question and asked another. "Where's Davis now?" I asked.
"I don't know Neveah I... I" She struggled to finish her sentence. "I really need to go, I'll call you later" she said as she put the palm of her hand to the back of her head.
"Okay, I'm here for you Kiyana, anything you need, you won't go through this alone."
She nodded slowly as she drew back her tears, she got into the front seat of her car and revved her engine and before driving off gave me a re-assuring smile. I put my hand up and smiled at her.

I stepped back into the school as the air conditioner smothered my face with cool air. As I was about to open the door, I heard a sound come from upstairs. Something fell and I could hear grunts and piano keys.
I looked in through the class window to find out Hamid wasn't there, I walked up the stairs slowly and opened the door to the music room, It was in a mess, The Piano had been destroyed, the guitar strings had been cut and there was sheet music scattered all over the floor.
I turned to the side to see Hamid sitting down on the bench at the back. "Hamid... what... are you okay?"
"What are you doing here?" He asked without looking at me. I heard noises coming from upstairs and I noticed that you weren't in class.
"Well I'm fine so leave" I tightened my lips as I tried to suppress my embarrassment. "Are you sure you're ok?"
I stopped as he looked over at me. "Get out" He said simply without raising his voice. I looked over at him as all ounce of sympathy disappeared. "This is how you treat people that decide to give a shit about you." I said as my heart beat quickened
"Neveah why do you just keep coming back, If I need your care I'd ask, but I don't so leave."
"If you're so good on your own, then I'll leave you alone." I felt a pain in my chest as Hamid's anger turned to nonchalance.
"Just be quiet Neveah and for your information I don't go pouting around remember..."
"You came to my house and forced your care on me and forced me to open up about my mom, because that's what you do, you force yourself on people because deep down inside you know no one actually wants anything to do with you." Then he looked up at me. "Hell, Seth is probably better off without you."
My eyes pricked as tears threatened my eyelids. I looked up at him and was careful not let any tear drop. "I feel sorry for you." I said before walking out of the music room.
