I was awoken by knocking coming from the front door.
I sat up in my bed, groaning out, wondering who would be trying to come in at this time of night.
I slumped my shoulders, my eyes half closed as I waited to see if they would leave, only to hear the knocks again.
'Who the heck is waking up the whole apartment,' I mumbled as I shoved my arms into my robe.
Maybe Suga had gone out and had forgotten his keys inside. I paused, thinking that if it were him, I should leave him outside, give him a taste of his own medicine.
I reached the door, opening it, half expecting it to be my roommate standing there on the outside.
However, it was not at all what I expected.
Her arms were crossed under her arms, trying to keep herself warm despite the thick coat around her.
A blue beanie was on her head, causing her dark hair to frame her face nicely.
As soon as her eyes met mine, she grinned.
I, however, did not. I leaned against the door frame, still half asleep, my eyes begging to be shut again.
Her cheeks were tinted with pink from the cold. 'Hey,' she mumbled.
I wiped a hand over my face, rubbing at my tired and sleep deprived eyes. 'What's wrong?'
She shook her head, still smiling. 'Nothing, I just wanted to see if you wanted to hang out?'
My chin dropped, lips parted. 'In the middle of the night?'
'Yeah, she breathed. 'I can't sleep and I needed some company.'
I tilted my head, glaring at her. 'So, you just decided to wake up your neighbour?'
'Not my neighbour!' She defended her self. 'My friend.' Sophia's gaze dropped towards her boots. 'If you don't want to, it's okay, I'll just go alone.'
'No,' I said instantly, not liking the thought of her being alone out and about at such a late hour. 'Give me a few minutes, I'll get changed.'✵
'If you didn't want to come, you should have just told me.' Sophia sniffed from the cold, burying her head further into her coat.
'It's fine,' I tilted my head towards the stars as we walked. 'I couldn't sleep anyways.' I lied.
'You're interesting you know,' she said quietly, kicking a small rock that was in her way.
I glanced at her quickly. 'How so?'
'You have this hard exterior about you; the tattoos, the piercings, your personality. It's all very stoic and built up.' She explained, gazing at me a few times. 'I feel like you want people to think that you're a bad person, but you're not. And that's what's interesting.'
A dry laugh made its way out of my lips. 'You say that like you know everything about me. How do you know if I'm not bad or not?'
'Let's just call it a hunch,' she said, smiling softly.
'And what if I am bad?' We had stopped walking.
She faced me. 'You're not bad.'
I leaned closer to her. 'What-if-I'm-bad?' I exaggerated each word.
She gulped as her eyes hovered over my features, not sure where to look.
'I know you're not,' she whispered, her eyes drifting to my lips then back up again.
She stared at my lips again, leaning in closer as she slightly stood on her tiptoes.
Our faces were only inches apart, one wrong move and our lips would meet.
'You're not,' she repeated, bringing her face toward mine.
I stepped back abruptly, not looking at her. 'I can't,' I breathed.
Sophia cleared her throat, embarrassed by her actions.
'Do you have a girlfriend or something?' She mumbled awkwardly, adjusting the beanie on her head to occupy herself.
'No,' I said quietly.
'I see,' she looked towards the ground, her voice getting softer. 'It's okay,' she looked up suddenly, putting a hand up in front of herself. 'I've been rejected before. I wasn't surprised that you would too.'
'Am I not your type?' She then asked, forcing me to look at her quickly, only to be met by her sad eyes.
'I don't have a type,' I said sternly. 'I'm not interested in being in a relationship. I cant.'
'It was just a kiss,' I heard her mumble under breath.
'You should get home,' I sniffed. 'It's late.'-
