It was a bright early summer morning as they descended through New York streets to Central Park. The girls were striding side by side ahead of him, casually talking - well Isabelle was the one responsible for most of the talks but still, it had been way better for Clary than this whole year. Sunlight flown everywhere: on Izzy's ponytail like a black shiny river and on Clary's curls like sunset sky.

Well Isabelle's beauty was there and had been there since forever, shining and attractive. But Clary's was something more subtle and hard to notice or it's just him, never noticing her at all then when he did, it was just strange to understand why he hadn't in the first place.

Then Clary smiled. It was still an uneasy one, she would get used to it hopefully.

She looked better in happiness and anyone disagreed to that could go to hell.

And anyone who tore those smiles away from her would have to fight him. And Alec could promise that it wouldn't be better than hell. Thinking that, his hands slowly curled into fists, then opened, then closed again as Alec recalled the phone call this morning he got with Jace.

Yes, Jace.

He called at five in the morning to ask if Alec was okay, if CLARY was fine - yes, if she was fine.

Well hell yes she is. If what you mean by fine is wreaking the training room every afternoon, calling herself by that surname of Morgenstern that Alec knew she despised, or waking up in the middle of nice screaming.

Yes, Alec spilled all of that to the phone, trying to do so calmly, controlling. And greet him back was just a dry laugh and Jace in a hoarse voice:

- "I see."

That blew Alec off. No you do not. You are freakin' blind Jace.

- "ALEC!"

Alec flinched from surprise at Clary's shout and before he even realized she had already stood dangerously close, looking up at him, worrying.

Their eyes met and that didn't help as he flinched even more and stumbled backward.

- "Raziel's sake!" - He heard Isabelle's disbelieved cry somewhere.

When he thought he would be falling, hard; a hand grabbed his and pulled him up - Clary's.

Now it was that kind of moments in films where there would be some slow-motions, things stop moving abruptly, all sounds muted and the only animated things left on screen is the main characters, staring at each other. Because right at that moment, Alec was staring at Clary.

Well she pulled him up right?

So why he still felt like he was falling?
