2016 ― London, England
"You may be a mess Katherina Moretti, but you'll always be my mess."Steve and Katherine Rogers along with their kids, and Sam Wilson made their way to London, England for Peggy Carter's funeal. Since, this is where she was from, her family wanted her buried back at home. Steve served as one of the Pallbearers while Katherine was asked to be one of the speakers. She didn't know if she was going to be able to keep herself together.
"And now, I would like to invite Katherine Rogers to come up and say a few words." The minister said. Katherine took a deep breath before making her way up on the stage, where she made eye contact with Steve who gave her a small nod.
"Margaret Carter was known to most as a founder of S.H.I.E.L.D. as I'm sure you all know, as of now, I'm the last living founder, but before either of us were that, she was just my best friend, Peggy. She had a photograph in her office. Peggy standing next to JFK. I remember when it was taken, people don't realize the work and the changes that Peggy made during her time as an Agent." Katherine started her speech. She looked down at her husband again, because she was feeling like she was about to cry.
"You're doing fine. I love you." Steve mouthed to her. She gave a subtle head nod before taking a deep breath and continuing.
"You know, one time I asked her how she was able to master diplomacy and espionage in a time when no one wanted to see a woman succeed at either. She told me, 'oh Katherine, you should know the answer to that. Compromise where you can. But if you can't, don't. Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree look them in the eye and say 'no, you move.' Those words have always stuck with me after that. Peggy was a much better person than I was, she actually made me better. She made you want to be a better person just so you could feel like you deserved to be in her presence. She was the best friend anyone could ever ask for, and I'm just blessed I had the opportunity to know her in this lifetime. I'll forever be grateful for that." Katherine spoke. She took a deep breath, before continuing.
"We spent our best time together the past few years. I asked her, out of all of her achievements which was she most proud of. She took my hand, smiled at me and said, 'helping Howard find you, after we thought the infinity serum had killed you.' And I told her, why would she waste her proudest achievement on someone who's as messy as I am, and she said, 'I've said it before and I'll say it again. You may be a mess Katherina Moretti, but you'll always be my mess."

After the funeral was over and everyone cleared out, Katherine remained seated in the church. Amaya and Christian had went outside per their dad's asking because he knew Katherine was going to need a minute. He considered Peggy a friend, she was really there for him in the two years he thought Katherine was dead after being injected with the serum, but he knew out of the two of them, Katherine was taking the harder hit.
She heard footsteps and when she turned around, Natasha was walking down the aisle towards her and Steve. She stood up from the pew as Natasha approached. "You know, when I first got out of the ice. I thought everyone I had known was gone. Then I found out she was alive, Katherine was still alive, I was just lucky to have both of them. Peggy was there for me at a time I really needed it." Steve said, wrapping his arm around his wife.
"She had both of you back, too." Natasha said to them, and then she looked at Katherine. "Even after everything happened with S.H.I.E.L.D., during my little hiatus, I went back to Russia and tried to find my parents." Natasha said.
"Oh. . Nat." Katherine whispered, reaching out for her friend's hand, which Natasha took.
"Two little gravestones by a chain-link fence. I pulled some weeds and left some flowers. We have what we have when we have it. And right now, you two have each other, and two beautiful kids." Natasha said to the couple.
