"It's out" I said staring at my laptop, sitting in an uncomfortable crisscrossed applesauce position on the bed crammed with books.
"What's out?" My roommate Tang asked me while unpacking a box of shoes.
"Our schedule."
She ran over to my side pushing over the books that were propped against me.
I clicked off of my schedule and pulled up her's.
"We better have classes together." She squinted at the screen, her eyes flickering over the words processing the information.
"We have lunch and mathematics together" I was a little disappointed we didn't have more classes together.
"Oh Esme! How are we supposed to survive if we barely see each other?" She complained resting her head on my shoulder.
I rolled my eyes. "Stop being dramatic, we'll see each other in the dorms and lunch and all the in-betweens!"
I pulled up my schedule once more and we both looked at it now.
Tang suddenly snapped upwards and gasped. "No way." She frowned at the screen now looking closer at it.
"What?"
"You have a teacher named Jung Hoseok for Psych? The same Jung Hoseok that everyone is talking about?!"
I shrugged "What's the big deal? What's wrong with him?"
Tang threw her head back and laughed. "you don't know?!" She furrowed her eyebrows at me, fake concern washed over her face "You need to get out more."
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, yeah I know. But what's up with my teacher?"
"It's only that he's the youngest and hottest professor at California University!" You're so lucky." Tang said slumping against the wall.
I scoffed. "That doesn't mean anything to me. I'm here to get a degree not a scandal. And besides, why are you so love-struck? I thought you were into girls." I teased.
She sat up and aggressively threw a plush pillow at me.
"I prefer girls, but I don't rule guys out either. Especially not hot professors around my age."
I rolled my eyes and laughed "I gotta get to class now so try to keep all that in check."
She picked up the plush she threw at me and set it on top of a pile of books "Impossible."
"Be good and I'll see you during lunch." I told her while slinging my bag over my shoulder and closing the door on my way out.
I had Psychology first, the class with the heaviest books and the longest walk.
As I was walking to the classroom Ryan, a junior I met on accepted students day, caught up to me fixed his pace to match mine.
"Hey Esme, heading to class?" He wiggles his eyebrows in a way I could tell he's attempting to flirt with me.
I smiled "Psych. How about you?"
He shrugged "I guess I'm walking you to Psych." His eyes smiled as he smiled, it was pretty cute actually.
I shrugged mimicking him "I guess you could hold my bags then."
We both chuckled as we turned the corner. I couldn't say wasn't flirting with Ryan, because I want to keep my options open this year. I've been with a lot of immature guys and my last relationship ended pretty badly, so if I was going to date someone I'd take it slow this time.
"Cool" he said slinging my bag over his shoulder as we approached the classroom. "Since we're early I guess I have time to ask if you wanted to meet up for lunch?" He leaned against the wall while talking to me.
"You're always guessing," I stepped forward in his direction "be sure. Do you want to take me out for lunch?" I felt the corners of my lips rising. Okay, maybe I was flirting. But who could help it? Ryan was obnoxiously cute. He was tan, his solid green eyes were sweet and his sandy hair framed his structured face well.
"I'd love to take you out for lunch Esme Rand." He said in a smooth, more confident tone.
"Glad to hear, Ryan Jacks." I placed my hand on his shoulder, lifting my bag off of it onto mine. "See you." I winked at him and walked into the classroom.
I wouldn't describe myself as confident, I actually had no idea what I was doing really. It was my first year with absolutely no parental supervision which meant I could do whatever I wanted; and it felt great.
I sat down close to the front where an area was clear. Tang told me to find a buddy in each class in case I missed notes one day or didn't understand a concept but I discarded the idea. I didn't really want anymore distractions other than one.
If I could date Ryan, then there's no need for friends except Tang. You grow distant when you date people anyway.
I got comfortable in the cold, small chair and I placed my very expensive books on top along with my coffee, phone, notebook, and fountain pen.
I checked the clock wondering why this oh-so-popular professor hadn't shown up yet while hundreds of students continued to flood inside the classroom.
"There are so many students taking Psychology this year." I mumbled to myself.
"If the professor is super hot who wouldn't?" A girl with pink short hair said while sitting down beside me.
I nodded and looked over at the clock again. One minute until class started.
"First day and he's going to be late? What a first impression he has so far huh?" The pink haired girl mumbled in my direction. It was obvious she was trying to befriend me by being relatable and outgoing, although I wasn't really interest.
"Uh-huh." I replied paying her no attention, only focusing on the clock.
Five seconds. Four. Three. Two.
The door opened and a well dressed, young and brilliantly handsome looking man walked in and stood infront of the large desk in the center of the room.
"Good morning class." He said in a deep but smooth, captivating tone.
