Elle's POV

Mr Schue walked around the choir room handing our sheet music to all of us. Mercedes and Kurt were sitting together in one corner, and I was seated on top of the piano talking to Zach, while lowkey watching Finn and Quinn who were sitting with Santana and Brit. Rachel was standing a few feet away from me and Tina was sitting down talking to Artie.

"E-Excuse me. This isn't the right key." Rachel's smile dropped after she took a look at her papers.

"No, that's actually the right key." Mr Schue turned to her briefly before handing Artie the last sheet music.

"This is the alto part." She responded.

"Yep." He said. "Tina's doing the solo." I smiled at Tina who was really excited hearing those words.

"I-I'm sorry. There must be some sort of mix-up." Rachel said. "I thought I made it very clear that anything from West Side Story goes to me. Maria is my part. Natalie wood was a Jew you know. I've had a very deep personal connection to this role since the age of one."

Everyone looked at each other knowingly.

"Yeah, no. Sorry." I told her.

Mr Schue looked at me and then back at her. "Well, I'm trying to shake things up a bit, get us out of our boxes."

"You're trying to punish me. Haven't you enough?"

"I think you're being irrational." Mr Schue shrugged.

"I think you're being unfair!" She shouted.

"I think you're being unfair to Tina, who might've been happy about getting her first solo." Mr Schue pointed to Tina with his rolled up paper.

"Tina knows how much I respect her, and I think she would agree with me that she's not ready for such an iconic role as Maria."

"Wait." Mercedes spoke up. Everyone looked to her. "I'm a Jet?" She asked, her hand motioning. Mr Schue furrowed his eyebrows at her. Rachel threw her papers on the piano and stormed out, once again.

Zach looked at me with a smug smile and I lightly smacked his shoulder.

"The more times she storms out of rehearsal, the less impact it has." Artie told Mr Schue.

"Congratulations, Tina." Mr Schue smiled at her. "This is going well." He said to us, but more like he was convincing himself.

After rehearsal, the cheerleaders and football players went to practice. Zach was beside me planning a movie date for us. I was watching Quinn and Finn walk together as I listened.

"–and we could probably go to Breadstix after.. if you're down." He said. I watched as Finn held Quinn's hand and as they giggled together. How is he not broken up with her?? "Elle?"

"Huh?" I hopped off my train of thought and looked up at Zach.

"I said: we can watch that new Captain America movie, since you love Marvel so much, and then we could go to Breadstix after." He repeated, and then he smiled.

"Mhm." I hummed. "Sounds great."

It'd been a week since Finn and I kissed, and Zach and I have been dating for a little more than three weeks. He still hasn't met my dad... my dad doesn't even know I'm dating anyone.

He's a great guy. He's really sweet and respectful, and he's super smart. I really like him, as a friend though. Every time I'm with him, I find myself daydreaming about Finn. Even more so after that kiss.

"What's up with you?" He stopped walking, and held onto my hand so I could stop also. I looked up at him and sighed.

"Nothing. I just have a lot on my mind." I responded. I gotta tell him about the kiss. It doesn't feel right keeping this secret from him, since he's so sweet and caring.
