6:00pm
it was the first time seeing your best friend in months. you had finally settled into london for good and Ben was coming for a visit, after hours of tidying your place you settled on the sofa to watch tv before he arrived.

7:00pm
the doorbell rang and your heart sped up, thoughts rushed through your mind
what if he's changed
will it be awkward

despite the anxiety you rushed to the door and greeted him with a massive hug. nostalgia flushed you as you remember everything you loved about Ben, his bright emerald eyes, his huge arms that made you feel safe when you were hugging him, or his buzzing personality.
"y/n i've missed you so much how are you?"
"ben i've missed you too, things are great, how's you?"

the night got off to an eventful start, it wasn't awkward, he hadn't changed. you two just spent the evening together, drinking, laughing and talking.

11:00pm
"y/n omg it's 11 i should go, you probably have work tomorrow"
"no-no ben i don't, i mean you can stay if you like"
"are you sure? am i bothering you"
"no of course not, just means we can get even more drunk together, right :)"
"right:)"

1:00am
you and ben had spent hours getting drunk. by this time you were both so drunk you were dancing and singing to Queen- they had always been your favourite band growing up, but it felt even better enjoying them with ben.

ben picked you up to the song love of my life it was then when you realised you liked ben more than a friend. from when you first met him in university, you had been too busy with other boys to realise him, to notice how much he cared for you, it was at this point you realised all the signs ben had been giving you, the kisses on the cheek, the huge bear hugs, the protection he always gave you. it was at this point you realised ben liked you more than a friend, and maybe you liked him back!

Ben still had you in his arms, dancing around the sitting room. "love of my life can't you see?" he sang
you joined his singing "bring it back, bring it back, don't take it away from me!'"

Ben put you down and you both looked into eachothers eyes.
"because you don't know what it means to me" he added
Suddenly you crashed, closing the space between you two. your lips againsed his, the warmth from his broad body, his gentle hands intertwined in your hair, the way he held you close.

you pulled away and put your hand on his cheek. you were stunned, but in a way it was an ease of the tension that had always been between you two
"ben did you mean to do it or did you do it because you felt you had to"
"i meant it" "y/n i- i think i love you"
