10:48 am
I woke up to the sun shining through the curtains covering my window, hitting my face directly. Sounds like a movie. What wasn't like a movie was my appearance. Hair everywhere, skin blotchy, eyes puffy, drool on my cheek. Let's just say that I am not an attractive person in the morning. I got out of the bed and stretched. I headed to the bathroom to brushed my teeth, combed my hair, washed my face, all the basics. As I walked out of the bathroom and into the small hallway that leads to the main living area.
I saw Wes fast asleep on the couch, crunched up trying to fit his body on the small frame. I decided to let him sleep, walking to the kitchen. I started making a pot of coffee, while I got to making breakfast. I pulled out the ingredients to make chocolate chip pancakes, Wes's favourite. I started to mix the wet and dry ingredients. I put a pan on the stove, letting it heat up. I made about half of the pancake batter when Wes walked in.
"Do I smell chocolate chip pancakes?"
"Well good morning sleepyhead, and yes you do."
"Mmmmmmmmh" Wes hummed as he took some of the pancakes, leaning on the counter.
"You can go eat at the table," I mentioned looking at him.
"I want to wait for you." Wes smiled as he took a bite.
"So much for waiting." I joked as I made my plate.
We eventually got to the table starting to chow down. There was a silence that fell over the room. The only sounds were that of silverware tapping on plates and slight sounds of chewing.
"So why haven't you accepted my offer," Wes questioned after he swallowed his final bite.
"Offer?" I questioned right back.
"Ya know, to be more than just hookups."
"Oh..."
"What is holding you back?" He said finally looking into my eyes.
"I just can't," I said shyly, looking away from his gaze.
"You can't? What does that even mean? I have given you nothing but love and support through everything. I took you in when your roommate kicked you out. I got you ahead of the rest of the editing team. I comforted you when you kept thinking about that piece of shit you dated. I have given so much and yet, I get nothing in return!" Wes raised his voice as he dropped his silverware on his plate, creating a loud clink.
I cowered in my seat as he yelled at me.
"Nothing in return? Nothing in return. Is that really what you think?"
Wes just gave me a blank stare.
"What do you think I have been doing all this time? I fuck you whenever you want. I give you a place to stay when you don't want to be home. I let you vent to me. I have given you everything that you have given me. Don't you dare say that I have given you nothing in return because I have given you every single part of me? You are the only person that knows about him, the only one who I have opened my heart to, the only person I have learned to trust." I yelled back as tears started to fall from my eyes. The emotions raging as the two of us sat in the tension-filled room.
I got up. Walking to the kitchen to put my things in the sink and to get away from Wes.
"If I am the only person you can trust, the only person you have opened your heart to, then why can't you be in a relationship with me?" Wes asked as he lurked behind me.
"It is complicated," I responded with a whisper.
"Is it now? Because it seems that isn't. I am the only person there for you. I am the only person you have. I have given you all my love and you know that." Wes raised his voice once again.
"Who said you are the only person there for me?" I panged as I turned around to face him.
"Are you saying that there is someone else?"
"Maybe I am," I said bluntly, my confidence building as the argument goes on.
"What are you fucking him to, making him feel good. Do you tell him everything as you lay in bed? Does he get to trace shapes in your skin as you fall asleep on his chest?" Wes asked.
"Why would I have time to fuck him if I am always with you?" My nerves are getting more and more irritated with every word that falls out of Wes's mouth.
"Maybe because you are a little slut."
Those stinging words that came from his mouth immediately changed the way the room felt. My heart just stopped. Memories fled my mind, memories of him saying the same thing to me all those years ago. Tears welled up in my eyes.
"Leave," I demanded.
Wes did not move, his expression softening as he realized what he just said.
"Y/N, I am so sorry. I didn't mean it."
"Go. Get out of my home." I said once again, pointing to the door this time.
Wes walked to the door as I followed him. He opened the door as I stood at a distance.
"Who is it?" Wes asked before he stepped through the frame.
I took the doorknob into my hand, leaning my head on the door itself. One final confidence boost came over me as I spoke his name:
"Damien."
