Taking Care Of The Last Midnight Jewel Dragon

After the incident where Sonic and Silver were able to tell Infinite and Mephiles their feelings, Kath was with Tikal in the forest to find some wild blueberries that Vanilla needs to make a blueberry pie.

Kath: Tikal, how many do we need to make the pie?

Tikal: I don't know. But I think when our baskets are full.

Kath was wearing something knew since it was still summer but it was getting a little cool. She was wearing a purple button up blouse with blue leggings and a light blue sunhat with a dark blue ribbon on it. They were able to find a patch were the blueberries grow but the two girls gasped when they saw that something was there causing them to hide in fear but peeked over to marvel at the creature which Tikal told her was a rare kind of dragon called thr Midnight Jewel Dragon known for the jewels on their chest. It wad a mother laying on its side and Kath recognized it to be the one from the Reversal of the Heart. She came out of her hiding spot which caused Tikal to panic.

Tikal: Kath, what are you doing?! That thing is dangerous!

Kath glanced at Tikal hesitantly but started to approach the mother causing it to raised its head weakly causing Kath to stop in her tracks. It stood up on it's legs but Kath saw that it was severely wounded thanks to a deep wound on it's neck near its soul jewel that was slightly cracked and blood was leaking from the wound. Kath put the basket down and started to approach the mother slowly to show her that she was not a threat.

Kath: It's okay, girl. I'm not gonna hurt you. I just want to help.

The dragon saw that the mobian in front of her was telling the truth. Kath was now standing in front of it and saw that there was a hatchling hiding under it as it stared at her in curiosity and fear. The mother groaned before falling on it's side causing Kath to worry as she checked her but saw that the mother was dying. It looked at Kath one more time before it nudged its hatchling towards Kath as it looked at Kath as if telling Kath to take care of its hatchling for her. Kath felt tears in her eyes as she could've sworn that it gave her a small smile before it died due to blood loss. The hatchling cooed sadly as it nudged its dead mother to try and wake it up but cooed in despair knowing that she was dead. Kath felt tears falling from her eyes but she wiped them away as she looked at the baby dragon and saw that its ears were down in sadness. It looked at her before hesitantly walked towards her until it was standing in front of her with its front arms resting on her lap. Kath gently stroked its head causing it to purr and making its soul jewel to glow happily.

Tikal: Kath, what's going on?

Kath turned around as the baby dragon flew on her head as it looked at the newcomer curiously.

Kath: The mother dragon died but it wanted me to take care of her hatchling for now on. It's just sad that it didn't last long to help it.

Kath picked the baby from her head gently before she went towards her basket. She turned back around and saw that the body was slowly disappearing into sparkles.

Tikal: Poor thing.

The baby dragon crooned sadly in Kath's arms making Kath to adjust her hold on the little guy before putting it in the basket. Tikal then told her that they should collect the blueberries. Kath agreed as she put her basket near a bush and started to pick some before putting them in the basket. The baby dragon looked up from inside the basket and observed the two curiously. It then got down from the basket and went towards the bush where the brown one is and started to try and help the them before it let out a startled mew as it was sent flying backwards and landed on its rump. Kath heard the startled mew and looked to where it came from only to start giggling when she saw that the little dragon was trying to help.

Kath: That's so cute of you, Starlight.

The little dragon perked at the name and Kath guess that she could call her that. By then the girls were finished picking beries and Kath was able to bring a backpack with her. She then held it open as Starlight sniffed it curiously before looking at her caretaker with a confuse coo.

Kath: It so I can carry you with me so you won't have stay on my head, arms or my shoulder.

Starlight understood as she crawled inside the bag only to pop her head out and looked at her caretaker in front of her as she glanced at him with a soft smile. After that, they were off back towards Vanilla's house. The two girls engaged themselves in small conversation and Kath discovered that Tikal likes Chaos. Kath almost squealed but held her excitement as she gave Tikal an idea so she can tell Chaos how she feels. Kath was proud of herself since she was really a love expert. They reached Vanilla's house before knocking on the door which was opened by Cream.

Cream: Oh hi, guys.

Kath: Hello, Cream-O. We brought the blueberris for the pies Vanilla will make. Is she home?

Cream nodded and let them in before noticing the bag Kath has was shuffling.

Cream: Miss Kath, why is your bag moving?

Kath almost forgotten about Starlight so she took off her pack before opening it letting the little hatchling out which made Cream to looked at the hatchling in amazement.

Cream: Where did you found it?

Kath: It's a girl, Cream. I found her with Tikal but her mother died and wanted me to take care of her child. I named her Starlight because she looks like a star in a night lit sky.

Cream became sad but started play with Starlight as Tikal and Kath went to the kitchen and gave Vanilla the blueberries. Vanilla started to make the pies and Kath started to draw Cream, Cheese and Starlight playing. Vanilla didn't mind a dragon playing with her child seeing that it was still a baby and needs someone to play with. The gang arrived but were surprised to see a baby dragon playing with Cream. Starlight saw that more people were in the house aand scurried towards Kath making her to stop drawing since she was almost done and picked her friend up. She told the gang why there was a baby dragon and thy became saddened when they heard the part where the mother died. Starlight looked at Shadow and cooed curiously as she went towards the black and red hedgehog making Shadow to look at Starlight before petting her head earning a happy yip. The pies were done and they all ate a slice even Starlight was able to eat one seeing that she likes berries and fruits.

Kath was now home with Shadow and Starlight after buying her little friend stuff and toys to play with even a little bed where she can curl up and sleep. Kath was just reading a novel before feeling arms wrap around her as she look up and saw Shadow hugging her from behind as she was now sitting on his lap.

Kath: Hey, Shady.

Shadow: Hello, my golden sun. How's the new addition to the family doing?

Kath: Starlight is sleeping right now after playing with her ball. Is there something you need?

Shadow just smirked causing Kath to blush lightly but smiled. Shadow then turned her making her to straddle his lap with her legs on either side of him. Kath saw this position and blushed heavily. She knew that she and Shadow were together but she wasn't ready.

Kath: Shadow, I'm not ready to do that yet. I'm still a little nervous about this.

Shadow saw that she was nervous and scared about this causing him to smile softly at her.

Shadow: It's okay, love. We'll only do it when you're ready. I was only teasing you.

Kath just giggled seeing that he was only joking. She leaned forward and gave Shadow a kiss which he returned with passion as he hugged Kath closer to his chest and tilted his head to the side to deepen the kiss. He tentatively licked her lips asking for entrance which she complied and opened her mouth as Shadow pushed his tongue inside her mouth and met her tongue and swirled the wet apendage . Kath let out a soft moan before they have to pull away for breath after their little make out. They were both blushing and panting heavily before they smiled at each other as Kath sat down properly on Shadow's lap and rested her head on his chest.

Kath: Shadow, I think I will be ready next time but promised to be gentle. It's my first time and I've heard that it hurts the first time.

Shadow: I promise to be gentle with you.

Kath just smiled before snuggling into Shadow's warmth.
