Don't let the laughing fool you. Because I did, and I was in for a surprise.
It came from Chris. "You think that she's going to choose being with you over being with me? Yeah right, I've been by her side for a lot longer than you have. She'll see that I'm better and ditch you and your sister," I hear Chris's voice taunt. Eden looks about ready to slap someone. I hold her back, I don't want them to see us yet.
"Yeah right. Being with us makes her feel alive, much more excited than she's ever been with you or that girl in the red dress from the party. So don't be surprised if she wants to keep us around," Xander says, and I can feel his cocky smirk around the corner.
"Liz? Liz doesn't make anyone feel excited unless it's for sex, trust me I know first hand. But me? She had a party because I pestered her enough, and she loved the party. That is how she met you in the first place," Chris said.
Oh no.
I think I just barfed in my mouth.
"Um, sorry but you're wrong, again. We've met before," Xander said. "But she obviously didn't bother to tell you that. Looks like you don't know everything about your precious love."
"Shut up! I've known her longer," Chris tried to use, but Xander just laughed.
"Really? Let me guess, 'I've been such a nice person to her so know I expect her to blow me' is your attitude. That's pathetic. Jes deserves better scum than you," Xander spits harshly.
"What? Hell no! Not at all! Jes means the world to me, and I'd never let some street trash be the one to crush her heart. Even so, I can tell she likes you more than she wants to admit. But I'll be damned if I ever let you touch her," Chris said venomously.
"You think I'm interested? Jes is great, really, but I can't have a girlfriend. Not that it's any of your business. So cool your jewels and we can get along just fine," Xander says.
My reaction to this would have been to come out and say that first of all who I date is my choice, no one else, and then proceed to slap both of them. Then I would say that I am not in any way interested in either of them.
Right?
BUT. I happen to be still shocked by Chris's comment about Liz. I mean, can you imagine what that poison was to my ears?
I stumble back, using Eden to steady my self. I must have made a noise in the process because both of the boys turned and looked at us. Boy were they shocked.
"Jessica! You're here! Xander and I were just talking about-"
"Shut the hell up."
Dead silence.
Chris isn't used to me cussing. Eden and Xander don't know me well enough to find my language shocking. But they get the jist.
"You... you and Liz... what?" I ask him. His eyes are wide with shock. I'm sure that he wasn't expecting me to point that out out of the entire conversation.
"Jessica, that was a while ago. It didn't mean anything and it won't happen again," Chris says, defending himself.
"I'M NOT JEALOUS YOU ASSHOLE, YOU SAID ALL SHE'S GOOD FOR IS SEX. MY BEST FRIEND!"
Do I need to tell you who said that?
"No, I didn't say that-"
"My ass, Chris! 'Liz doesn't make anyone feel excited unless it's for sex, trust me I know first hand'? You did say it, Chris. Don't tell me you didn't," I say angrily. Trust me, we've fought before. But I draw an effing line when people talk bad about Liz. No matter who it is.
