When I woke up, I didn't really wake up. My eyes were still closed, but I could hear everyone around me.

The first voice, I faintly. It was a girl's voice.

"That's all I can do. She has to wake up on her own. You better hope for her sake that she doesn't wake up for a while."

I assumed they were talking about me. I struggled trying to open my eyelids, but they wouldn't open.

"Alec, you need relax. Take some time away from her," I heard Eden's voice counsel.

"And go where?" Xander spat.

"Away," Eden said, unaffected by his tone.

I heard an aggravated sigh and footsteps. They were becoming quieter, and that's when I heard my own voice mutter, "No."

"Alec! Wait! She said something," the other girl's voice said. It was so familiar, yet something I couldn't put my finger on.

I heard his foot steps run back. "What did she say?"

"She just muttered 'no', but I think that she's coming back to reality. Get ice, and a lot of whiskey," She said.

Slowly, my eyelids unpeeled themselves. I saw that I was in a small living room, at least what I thought was a small living room. Eden and Xander were hovering over me, looking at me with wide eyes.

"What happened?" I asked, attempting to get up. A searing pain shot up my left side, making me give a small cry and go back down.

"Well... when you hugged Alec- er, Xander, the cops came around the corner. They had a gun and tried shooting at him," Eden said. "They accidentally got you."

I don't remember hearing a gun shot, only my ears ringing. But I do remember sirens.

"So it got me," I said. She nodded her head.

"And you got the bullet out?" I asked.

"Well it only skimmed you, but it still got you pretty bad. You lost a lot of blood," she said. I nodded.

"So can I get like ice or something... 'cause this hurts like a bitch," I said.

I kind of decided to get rid of the whole 'no cussing' deal with me. I guess I don't really care, as long as I'm not really directing it to someone... right?

Eden nodded and left the room. Now it left Xander and I. Alone.

"How are you feeling?" He asked in a low voice.

"Like I just got shot," I said duly.

"Yeah... at least it didn't get stuck in your skin. Marisa would have had to do so much more work," he said.

Marisa...

Marisa...

"Holy crap!" I yelled. Xander flinched. "Sorry."

"What is it?" he asked, worry in his tone.

"I just... I know Marisa," I said. Xander pursued his lips and knit his eyebrows.

"You do?" he asked. I nod.

"How?" He asked.

"Girl scouts," I said.

"Wow, you did girl scouts? Can I get a box of thin mints please?" He joked. "Man, I remember those things. They were the shit."

"I know right?" Marisa says, walking through the door with Eden. Eden holds a bag of ice and Marisa holds a bottle of whiskey and a first aid kit.
