Chapter 16 - Let's Get The Party Started!

"Are you ready to go?" Laxus asked as he waited at the bottom of the staircase; adjusting his cufflinks on his shirt and shifting his tie into the perfect spot.

I slipped my feet into my black, suede, platform, high heels and stood up from the bed in mine and Laxus' room. I brushed down the skirt on my dress and made sure that everything was positioned perfectly.

"I'm coming down." I replied.

"I'm excited about this party." Pika said to me.

"Same. You look nice in that red dress, makes a difference from your onesie that you usually wear." I replied.

"Yeah." Pika said with a smile.

I grabbed my light grey, fur, shawl and wrapped it around my back, over my arms and clasped the two ends together at the front to keep me warm as we travelled to the guild hall. I walked down the stairs and saw Laxus staring at me the whole time, a small smile appeared on his face.

"You look beautiful, Sparky." Laxus said with a grin as he took my hand in his when I reached the bottom of the stairs.

"Thank you, I must say that you are looking handsome yourself." I said with a smile.

"I tried. Shall we get going?" Laxus asked.

"Of course." I replied as I linked my arm with Laxus' arm and we left our house for the evening.

Small snowflakes were floating down from the sky on this chilly evening. I held on tight to Laxus' arm, trying to keep warm. Pika flew alongside us.

"Are you feeling cold? Do you want to borrow my jacket?" Laxus asked.

"Thanks, but it's fine. I don't want you to catch a cold." I answered.

"Let me wrap my arm around you." Laxus said.

I nodded to his response as I let go of his arm and he wrapped it around me, clasping his hand on my arm and pulling me close to him.

"Better?" He asked.

"Yes." I replied.

As we reached the guild hall doors, I didn't hear much noise, not as much noise as I expected to hear at that time. Were we too early?

Laxus put his hand on the handle and opened the doors, revealing a loud round of applause and welcome from the rest of the guild members waiting inside. I wasn't expecting everyone to be waiting there for us.

We stepped inside and shut the doors to keep the cold out. As I looked around at the many happy faces and the wonderful decorations, I noticed two people in particular that were waiting for me.

"Swift! Kasumi!" I called out as I walked over to them.

"Akari!" They both replied back.

I greeted both of my good friends with a hug.

"I can't believe you two are here, I wasn't expecting you." I said.

"Laxus' idea, he wanted to keep our visit a surprise, but we are staying at your place for a couple of days." Kasumi explained.

"I love that guy. I'm so glad you could come, it'll be nice to catch up." I replied.

"Yeah, Laxus said that a lot of stuff has happened since we last met." Swift said.

"I guess you could say that." I replied as Laxus walked over to us.

"Hey, you guys talking about anything important?" Laxus asked.

"Just catching up, I presume you haven't told them." I replied.

"No, I wanted to wait until you came back from the job so we could say it together." Laxus said.
