Have you ever had a surreal moment in your life?
In the sense that you don't know how the hell you got to this time and place. It feels like your standing on top of a speeding train. Suddenly you're propelled back, like a kite crushed quietly against the air.
"Whoooosh" the steam whistles, racing huffs spark against the metal as the train plunges into the future, corroded by the past.
The stars in your eyes burn, so you're crying gold tears. You finally see the richness of life.
The sky has never been closer to your touch, your fingers yearn for the blue, handled without a care.
That's how I felt right now watching my mother hold the cold shiny metal up to Len's face.
Moments become flashes*
Fury scorched deep lines into my mother's skin.
Len's pale eyes riddled with fear beyond the gray.
Dean's strong arms holding me back as I screamed.
Pitter
Patter
Drops in a bucket.Somewhere between the dense lungs of chaos, we bled. We all did, held together by a pivoting motion of a God who laughed like thunder, spinning us like tops.
"MOM PLEASE ARE YOU INSANE?!" I screamed.
The gun shook in my mom hands, as she held her weapon of rage.
"HE HURT YOU BABY!" she justified. She didn't blink but kept a condemning glare on Len that would have killed Medusa.
Len put his hand up, paralyzed as he backed into a corner like a frightened mouse, "I did" he stammered, "and I came here to apologize" he squeaked.
Dean held me down, as I squirmed, trying to get out of his grasp.
"LET ME GO!" I huffed, as I wrestled under his strength.
"YOU CHEATED ON MY DAUGHTER, BUT YOU ALSO TOOK SOMETHING FROM HER. THE DAY SHE CAME HOME, SHE WAS NEVER THE SAME." My mom screamed belligerently, her eyes bulged as her face flushed a siren red.
Len's jaw dropped, "I CHEATED?" he gasped, raising an eyebrow in my direction. He didn't bother to hide his surprise.
"That's what you told her?" he whispered softly turning to me.
My mom lowered the gun looking at both of us confused, "NOVA, WHY IS THIS NEWS TO HIM?" she asked me.
I groaned, everything I didn't want was coming to light. I could no longer avoid the truth.
Dean let me go as everything quieted down, all eyes were on me. I took a deep breath as I walked over to Len, "I cheated..." I whispered softly.
The room shivered in silence, as my moms brown eyes blinked in confusion. My heart was ripping at the seams, as the truth strike'd with venom. Her face twisted and the brown warmth blew over with a dull amber root shade.
