I wanted it to be all over. I didn't want the pain that those memories held. I didn't want to know that I was really seventeen. I didn't want.
I mentally apologized to the amazing people standing in front of me, the only people who probably cared about what happened to me. I let my claws slide out. I gave them one last look. My hand went to my heart, somewhere I knew that I couldn't regenerate from yet.
I had expected to feel the cold metal and then maybe welcome death. But, it never came.
Quicksilver had his arm pressing down against mine, so that I couldn't reach myself. I looked up at him, his eyes meeting mine. I felt his arm slowly relax. His hands gently cupped my face. he leaned his forehead against mine. Some of his soft silver hair fell in his face. My heartbeat sped up a little bit. I searched his eyes.
"You're going to be okay, I promise." Quicksilver's lips softly kissed mine. My arms slid around his neck and my head fell on his shoulder.
"I believe you."
And I did.
