Chapter 26

"You guys know each other?" Aaron says getting up, "We work together" I admit, and Aarons seems to relax a bit while Shayne still looks shocked and heated. Everyone in the lounge room stays silent as the tension grew between Shayne and I, when he finally asks, "Can we talk?" and of course I just nod my head and get up following him as he walks off. I mean are we all surprised that I just left my date behind for Shayne.

As we head off I hear mumbling from the lounge room and the movie continues, we end up sitting out on the back-porch steps obviously sitting on different steps. "you couldn't have me, so you went for my cousin?" Shayne says laughing "Oh shut up, I didn't know he was your cousin" I confess, and he just laughs.

"I'm sorry" he says as he makes eye contact with me, "For what?" I ask acting dumb which makes Shayne giggle a little. "For everything, Y/N" he sighs and then continues "I shouldn't have kissed you at the party and in my car" he admits and my heart aches "Ouch" I say out loud "No, I don't mean it like that, trust me I really enjoyed kissing you" he admits which makes my cheeks heat up very quickly.

"But I had a girlfriend and that wasn't fair on her or you, I was confused with my own feelings and hurt two people because of that" he admits and finally breaks eye contact with me, looking at the ground. "What do you mean you 'had' a girlfriend?" I ask and he just stays quiet for a while before finally admitting "I called off the engagement with Ally".

I instantly melt and get butterflies in my stomach but then quickly snap out of it, poor Ally. "Why'd you call it off?" I ask, and he just looks at me as if to say you idiot, you know exactly why I did it. "Oh" I manage to get out hoping that these actions were not a result from the tantrum I had with him the other night.

"I had a really good think the other night" He says, and I move to the lower step where he was sitting "I had to choose who I wanted and while I was choosing I realised me having to choose is not what either of you deserve, so I was going to stay away from both of you" he explained "Well that was until you showed up in my mum's lounge room, cuddling my cousin" he jokes and we both laugh.

"Aarons nice" I admit, and he just fakes a smile to me "Yeah" he agrees obviously hurt "Why does this have to be so complicated" I say, and he giggles again "You know I Love you, Y/N" he admits. As soon as I heard those words I swear my heart nearly stopped, Ever since the Disneyland trip I had convinced myself that he had just said that for the skit.

I just sit there unable to speak "God you're even more brainless than me" he jokes and stiffens up when I don't laugh "I know this is a lot for you, I don't expect you to just drop everything for me." He explains hugging me "Just thought you deserved to know".

"I'm just confused" I admit as he starts to rub my head and play with my hair a little, being in his arms felt so good it was like all the problems over these past couple of months just disappeared. "You deserve someone like Aaron who saw your worth from the beginning" he says, and I laugh which confuses him "Why are you laughing?".

"I've definitely ruined anything between Aaron and I" I confess, and he just shakes his head "I'll talk to him about it and he'd be an idiot to not want you" he smiles at me. I start to shiver as the cold wind picks up "Why don't we go back inside" Shayne suggests, and I nod my head "Why didn't Aaron notice me from the videos then?" I ask him as we start to walk back in "He's not really interested in that type of stuff I guess" He shrugs.

"Maybe you can be the third wheel on our dates now" I joke to Shayne as we walk into the lounge room, Aaron looks up as we start to burst out with laughter. He does not look happy, so I quickly head towards him and sit next to him in the empty space and to my luck the only other spot for Shayne was next to me. "Guess I am third wheeling" Shayne whispers and I giggle as Aaron shushes us saying he was trying to watch the movie.

The movie finally ends, and I say goodbye to Shayne before hopping in the car with Aaron who was dropping me home. As soon as we drive off "So what did you and Shayne talk about?" he asks, and I decide to tell half of the truth, I really wasn't good at lying. "Oh well he might be the guy I was talking about" I admit, and Aarons just sighs "Oh".

We didn't really say much after that and after what felt like years I made it home, I turn the lights on making my way to the counter. I'm immediately greeted by Theodore, floating upside down in his fishbowl "Oh great".
