I glanced over at the boys on the couch and they were transfixed on the story. Arthur had created a complete story in his head. He had a world, characters, and dialogue. He wasn't even reading. I was envious of how talented he really could have been. As I took another sip of my cooling tea Arthur resumed, "The class period went quickly, Mrs. Waters decided to read the stories from the hardest workers in the class and the first story to have been read was Ebony's story. The students assignment was to write a three page short story about an emotion without saying the word they chose. Ebony had chosen melancholy, when Mrs. Waters began reading the paper the light from her eyes quickly vanished when she realized what the words were saying. Ebony had created a wonderfully crafted piece of sorrow and despair. Mrs. Williams stopped reading after the first paragraph, she couldn't continue, Ebony had handed in eight and a half pages. She placed Ebony's papers on the top of the stack of the other stories. Next she grabbed Tor's paper, she was always pleased with Tor's work. His paper was titled 'Warm'. His story was about love, Mrs. Water's smile once again found its way onto her face, her teeth were sparkly white and beaming with life, her eyes squinted as she smiled while she was reading the story. The word choices weren't as advanced as Ebony's, but this story was definitely, 'A' quality. Tor wouldn't peel his eyes from the flag. His face was polished red, he was blinking every two seconds, had clammy trembling hands, and began biting his nails as Mrs. Waters read his story. He certainly hadn't planned on his story being read to the entire class. He had stayed up all night working on it trying to perfect it. When Mrs. Waters had finally finished reading Tor's seven page story she returned it to the stack and began teaching about technical writing skills. Ebony still hadn't moved a muscle, Mrs. Waters looked in her direction 23 times that class period." Arthur had a smug smile on his face as he recounted the story.
