"Help me up!" I commanded to Bo who had no trouble digging herself out of the snowpile she pushed me into then voluntarily jumped into herself. She was standing in front of me, mocking me and me being disable to get out.
"Why should I help you?" She asked, dragging this out.
"Because you're the one who pushed me in here," I informed, both of us knowing that she did. I'd be slightly amused if she tried to deny it in attempts to be funny, but she didn't which I'm somewhat thankful for.
"I don't see much of a reason in that," She replied, starting to tap her foot against the packed snow that was smooth enough to deem a pathway safe enough to drive an automobile on.
"Lianna and Jasie are waiting inside, they're probably thinking we've gone missing," I added.
"But they saw me push you in so that's the last thing that would cross their mind," She stated, shutting down that reason along with many others that had come to mind. "I know them well enough."
"I'm freezing," I understated. I was soaked to the bone and cold to the touch.
"Didn't I tell you to dress warmer?" She asked, both of us knowing she had.
"I'm sorry I didn't expect to be pushed in a snowbank," I half apologized. "I'd expect it from Mark, maybe Glen, but not from you."
"Well maybe next time you shouldn't underestimate my capabilities," She suggested.
"Who was nice enough to plan this surprise trip for you?" I countered, knowing that this would be enough to win her over.
"Fair enough," She replied, extending both of her arms out to me. I took her clothed hands in my own and used her as an anchor to pull me up from the water cold to the point where it was a meltable solid.
"Thank you," I thanked as I hopped up the stairs and into the lodge. It was easy enough to find Jasie and Lianna in the pub, tey stuck out almost like sore thumbs. Most everyone was dressed in a monotone fashion while they were wearing colorful ski apparel. Lianna adorned in all purple and Jasie in a mix of grass green and baby blue, not as bad as a combination as one would think.
I waved over to them to signal to them that we were back from outside and they returned with frantic hand movements. The both of us made our way over to the booth where they were sitting as fast as our frozen, well at least my, limbs would allow us. We were sitting on the uncomfortable wooden benches in no time.
"I need a pint," I informed the others before getting right back up and shuffling over to the bar. I needed something to help warm me up, and right now a pint of Guinness seemed like the only logical way to achieve the warmth that I want. From the inside seeping out.
"Hey, how can I help you," The bartender asked when I took a seat by the table.
"A pint of Guinness please," I answered. He turned away and filled a glass that has the Guinness harp on it then turned on his heels and placed the beverage in front of me. I dug some money out of my pocket and slammed five pounds beside the glass before taking a big swig of it. Ah, that hits the spot. I took the glass into my grip and made my way back over to the booth where Bo and her friends were sitting, chatting with each other and giggling like schoolgirls.
"What you gals chatting about?" I asked as I sat back down besides Bo before taking another swig. This is warming me up faster than any amount of heat could. I just now noticed that they were all staring a menu in the face. They were discussing what they should get, mostly the 'I'll get this and if you get that I'll take a bite of yours and you can take a bite of mine' deal. We quickly submitted our orders and we were patiently waiting by the three of them chatting while I took out my phone and checked Twitter. I didn't really have a place in this discussion so I wouldn't consider this rude. If they ask me a question I'll cut in and answer but other than that possible circumstance, I have no part in this comversation.
Some of the tweets were making me giggle and some making me outright laugh out loud. There was a group of five people that were having a conversation and sneaking in as many song titles as they could. It was quite amusing to see how they used the titles, and even some lines. Because I had the urge to comment, I dug through all the title tweets to possibly find one that they haven't used. Sure enough, I found the one that fit the most.
@TheScript_Danny Nice job girls, there's #Nothing left.
WIthin minutes of starting my somewhat of a tweet spree, our food came and we started to pig out. As soon as the plates hit the table, Bo and her friends were exchanging foods off their plates left and right. I sometimes wonder why people can't just eat of their own plate. I understand taking a fry or two at a fast food place, heck I pick Mark's fries pretty much all the time, but to this amount is ridiculous. I took a bite out of my steak and took a swig of Guinness as I stared up at he ceiling.
Another hour or so of small talk passed and with that came three more pints and a shot of whiskey. Small letters and numbers were starting to get blurry but I was still coherant, thank goodness. I was asked a couple questions but I was left out of the conversation most of the time, which I didn't really mind to be honest.
"I'm so sorry but I have to go now," Lianna informed as she shuffled out of the booth. "I have to get home before the babysitter leaves."
"No worries," I replied, understanding that family comes first and I don't think anyone in the right mind would want to leave their baby at home alone. "We really need to get going to."
"I guess we part ways now then," Jasie concluded.
"Until we meet again," Bo spoke as the rest of us got up from the wood benches.
"Thank you, Dan," She thanked as soon as we were out of the lodge and working out way back towards her car.
"You're welcome, Bo," I returned. "Anything to cheer you up."
